Ed Brown Special Forces Molon Labe

Ed Brown 1911

Ed Brown Products announced a new 1911 pistol called the Special Forces Molon Labe edition. The new gun is based on the existing Special Forces model.

The new pistol is a 5″ Government style handgun with a single stack frame. On the left side of the slide is “MOΛΩN ΛABE” while the VZ Operator II Marsoc grips are festooned with the image of a Spartan helmet and the words “MOΛΩN ΛABE”.

The rear sight is a U-notch, and the front sight is a red fiber optic. The forestrap and magwell housing have the company’s Chainlink III treatment. The Black Gen4 coating is standard, but optional Stealth Grey and Battle Bronze Gen4 colors are options.

Check out additional details on the company’s page here.

The gun is not cheap and retails for $3125. Customizations may be a little extra.

Should have extended the magazine or done something to make it hold at least 11 rounds. If you’re going to say you are poking the bear, the POKE IT. Yes, I know then people in certain states won’t be able to buy it. Yes, I realize that would detract from the “purist” 1911, but are they wanting to make a real statement or just another pretty- and likely awesome, gun. As is, it’s just marketing trying to look like taking a stand.

Ed Brown doesn’t make widebodies afaik, but if they did, I’m sure they would be awesome.

  • wetcorps

So they unironically named it the “Special Forces Molon Labe”?

Well if there is enough of a market, why not. But lol.

  • hking

At first I thought it said Ed Brown Special Forces Moron Label instead of Molon Labe, but really its basically the same thing.

  • Vitsaus

I thought the whole Molon Labe thing was over 4 years ago. A little behind the times. If they want to keep up they need to be making absurd looking muzzle devices.

    • Burst

Technically, the whole Molon Labe thing was over 2500 years ago.

    • Nashvone

Drop a .460 Rowland conversion kit in it and you would pretty much be there.

  • Don Ward

This weapon needs more catchphrases in its name.

And for three grand, I’d expect a little better etching in the slide.

Boutique 1911 makers aren’t even trying anymore. Over the last 10 years it seems like once you hit the 3k mark, everything is just phoned in, including the gimmicks.

    • Dan

For 3 grand it better touch me inappropriately and make me a sandwich afterwards. At least once a week for a year

  • G0rdon_Fr33man

What is so special forces with a custom 1911?

    • Nicks87

Absolutely nothing! It’s a marketing gimmick.

      • G0rdon_Fr33man

Exactly. My question was rhetorical 😛

        Guys wanna oper8!

looks like my Rock Island FS
