Photographer Konstantin Lazarev is a reliable source for photos of the latest and greatest small arms to come out of Russia. His latest batch of photos shows several different Pecheneg and PK machine guns, configured with night vision and holographic optics. Some of the photos are below:

The Pecheneg is the heavy fixed-barrel specialized dismounted variant of the PKM machine gun, and fires the same 7.62x54mmR round.

Thanks to Retiv for the tip!

I need one for home defense.

    • iksnilol

I doubt I can afford to load it with soft points or something else suitable for home defense.

      • TheNotoriousIUD

I use Federal Premium 7.62 Operational Operator Perforators.

        • Anonymoose

Brown Bear soft points are pretty cheap.

I take no chances when it comes to home invaders.

          • Grindstone50k

But they’re great against brown bears.

          • Anonymoose

Same here. That’s why I like the good, heavy 203 gr stuff. If you need more range, Prvi 182gr FMJs are an excellent choice

If you surround your house with an earth rampart then you don’t need to worry about overpenetration.;)

      I need one for hunting.

I’d like to adopt the green one, Sir!

  • SP mclaughlin

Green one is a PKM, but awesome shots still.

    • I was looking at that and thinking “geez that looks exactly like a done up PKM” but what makes you sure on that? I’m no expert on IDing russian lmgs. They all look like the same receivers to me, but without the carry handle structure on the green unit.

      • TheRealKivaari

The distinctive feature of the Pecheneg are the forced cooling slots on the barrel jacket next to the carry handle, which by the way is a little different from a regular PKM.

      • Zugunder

Vertical carry handle right on the barrel + bipod closer to muzzle – dead giveaways of Pecheneg. These features aren’t attached directly to barrel on PKM since it has changeable barrel, which Pecheneg hasn’t.

        • Ahhh thats right! The PKMs barrel change handle is quite distinctive! Thanks for the info

      • Yes, it’s a PKM.

  • UCSPanther

A general purpose machine gun named after a Turkic peoples who were known for their ferocity in battle. An excellent choice.

I think I’ve found my next truck gun.

  • roguetechie

I’d adopt a couple of the “runts” aka bullpup mod.
bullpup lmg’s and gpmg’s are becoming a fascination of mine.

    • TJbrena

Bullpup SAWs, LMGs and GPMGs are definitely an interesting category. The bullpup PKP is unique even compared to most bullpups, because the ammo box is mounted diagonally in front of the grip, while the belt feeds behind it. It makes more sense ergonomically than just mounting the box behind the grip, though I’m not sure about how well the box is attached.

Any of these matchine guns would be a better kicker than Josh Scobee.

I can see the Mall Ninjas now, “must have…”.
