Origin 12 Shotgun spits out 30 rounds in 8 seconds (VIDEO)

Screenshot 2015-08-28 10.46.37

My videographer/photographer friend Oleg Volk recently posted a video of the Origin 12 shotgun dumping 30 rounds in 8 seconds. It could have clearly been shot faster but the spacing was most likely intentional in order to show the cycling variation.

Added to the fun is a SilencerCo Salvo 12 suppressor which allows the shooter to fire without any ear pro.

At a cost of $2600, the Origin 12 ain’t cheap, but it sure looks like a great magazine fed shotgun.

    That smile says it all!

    • UD

No kidding, I found myself laughing at that.

    • Eddy Theodog

My second favorite part of the video…perfect.

  • Giolli Joker

Seeing this after the SAIGA Mk107 makes me hope that they’ll scale its balanced action up to 12GA.
“SilencerCo Salvo 12 suppressor which allows the shooter to fire without any ear pro.”
Well, he could fire without ear pro even without the SALVO, but in both cases it’s not the healthiest choice.

    • Shawn

Still seemed pretty loud to me, I’d still use ear protection regardless.

      • Oleg Volk

With subsonic ammo, it’s ear safe. With supersonic, less so.

        • Giolli Joker

Well, technically ear safe should be below 120db (85 if the sound is continuous on a lon period), from the numbers I read, I doubt we are in that range, even with subsonic.

It totally made my day to wake up and see myself on my favorite gun blog

    • Just a guy

If that’s you YOUR FLAG IS ON BACKWARDS! Get it right.

      • Luke Hasse III

Funny thing is… I’m not disrespecting the flag or trying to steal valor by wearing rank, branch or unit patches. I’m not in the military any more and that’s not a uniform.

        • G0rdon_Fr33man

So what is the deal with dressing up in camo?

          • Squirreltakular

            It looks cool? Who cares.

          • G0rdon_Fr33man

Let me tell you why people should care.

Gun owners in America are their own worst enemies. Playing tacticool dressup and carrying AR-15s into Starbucks creates a rather significant mental barrier between non-gun owners and “us”. Is it really strange that the media adopts terms like “assault rifles”, when you have guys looking like paramilitary forces carrying them?

On youtube, you have down to earth likeable characters like Hickok45. He is a great ambassador for shooting. Simply a likable grandpa showing how guns can be fun, safe and harmless. Then you have nutnfancy in the other end of the spectrum, like the complete morons they are, making gun owners look like complete psychos.

If you wanna be a weekend warrior and wear a uniform, join the reservists, or state sanctioned paramilitary if applicable to your country.

          • j_case

damn, starbucks is looking mighty foresty now, when did they change that?

          • anomad

In this part of Texas all the women look foresty.

          • Nicks87

What the F— are you talking about? Where I live everybody wears camo. You cant walk down the street without seeing people wearing camo cargo shorts or pants or some sort of real tree pattern hat or shirt or jacket. Many of them are veterans, hunters or sportsman but some just like the style. It has nothing to do with back yard commandos exercising their 1st and 2nd amendment rights on youtube.

          • G0rdon_Fr33man

I´m obviously not talking about those wearing camo pattern cargo shorts, but full top-to-botton multicam, plate carriers and patches. We have hunters here as well, wearing forest camo with orange details.

          • anomad101

It has to do with idiots wearing camo. Do they wear “jungle boots” too?

          • supergun

            flip flops.

          • Gregory Peter Dupont

Hell,I haven’t worn anything issue( OD,BDU,jungle fztigues, digicam etc) since I ceased to be addressed by my rank…OTOH,I never got torqued at the sight of anyone doing the whole ” Casual Cammies ” thing. There’s more important things to get annoyed over.

          • supergun

You are right. In my city, the idiots have started wearing camo. I guess that is ok, because one day we will all be wearing it, if the idiots keep getting elected.

          • Grindstone50k

He was at a range, not Starbucks. Calm down.

          • n0truscotsman

            MYOFB

If the color and texture of a printed pattern of clothing concerns you, then you probably need to go to the local leather shop and buy a thicker skin.

Or make your own goddamn videos where you are wearing levi slim fits and pseudo-vintage pearl button shirts. Whatever you feel may appease those who are already antithetical against guns. Ill give you a clue though: you wearing even a bunny suit will not convince them you are a lawful, peaceful person. Because they already have preconceived notions about you as a gun owner.

And I fail to see what the big deal about nutnfancy’s videos are. If you dont like them, dont watch them. His advice about open carry protests was actually the most sane and level headed of most personalities putting out information (as opposed to kokesh).

            Jesus christ. >:(

          • G0rdon_Fr33man

This is the internet. I don´t have to mind anyones business. As a matter of fact, US gun related news often create headlines worldwide, so in a way it is my business.

It neither offends me nor bothers me personally, but the guy in the top vid is for sure giving anti-gunners arguments to put shooters in a bad light because both you and I know the media if quick to pick the worst looking photos that makes for most sales and clicks. Perhaps those anti-gunnes are idiots, but that is not the point. The point is that he does look like military, and that does not serve your cause for one bit arguing for civilian gun ownership.

“Because they already have preconceived notions about you as a gun owner.”

This is where I´m disagreeing with you. Ask out those who have never fired a gun to the range, introduce them to shooting in a civil manner, drop the political debates and don´t dress like Rambo. In my experience, people will respond positively to this. That is one more soul on “our” side.

          • n0truscotsman

Need a baseball bat for that strawman regarding “US gun related news”? Just because the media reports on it more vigorously, doesn’t mean it is ‘happening more often!’ And WHY are you comparing criminal shootings with a lawful person wearing camo? false equivalency much?

“but the guy in the top vid is for sure giving anti-gunners arguments to put shooters in a bad light because both you and I know the media if quick to pick the worst looking photos that makes for most sales and clicks”

Let me say again: If somebody already has preconceived notions about a person, then them shooting on their own property wearing camo isn’t making the situation worse. Them wearing carhartts or patagonia while shooting a scary shotgun with a big drum magazine isn’t going to change those preconceived notions. At all.

“The point is that he does look like military, and that does not serve your cause for one bit arguing for civilian gun ownership.”

SO how does that clothing make him ‘deadlier’ than if he was wearing patagonia, or, a bunny suit?

People who are normally outraged over clothing selection *probably* aren’t going to have the most rational thoughts regarding the complex debate of gun ownership. Just sayin.

But you are free to think that it somehow matters. Sure (eye roll).

You can disagree all you want, but some people *do* have preconceived notions about gun owners. And gun owners dressing friendly as possible isn’t going to alleviate the subject manner.

Think all you want, but that is reality. You want to “win” people over? try *not* starting with those who are outraged because of the type of clothing you wear.

So yes, MYOFB. Make your own videos with your own origin 12 shotgun.

          • anomad101

Never wore “camo” in the military, not about to start now. Never wore body armor either, it interfered with running gooder.

          • Bal256

“We need old harmless grandpas shooting guns”
            Really???

          • G0rdon_Fr33man

I´m not in any way against AR-15 style firearms. I love´em. Seems to me Hickok45 loves them as well, which was my point. I know the idiocy of classifying firearms by looks. But you are not helping the image for that sort of firearms by completing peoples mental picture of a soldier carrying his rifle, by wearing a uniform and combat wests. Soldiers are associated with war. My point is about PR, for the betterment of the shooting community, and to attempt to close the gap of the anti-gunners and “us”.

          • Dan Kim

You understand the idiocy of classifying firearms by their looks but advocate judging people by their looks.

You are right. Gun owners are their own worst enemy.

          • G0rdon_Fr33man

Do your hear your own counter-argument? If a dude wear an airline uniform, we can assume he is a pilot. If he wear an electricians belt, we can assume he is an electrician, if he wears a military uniform we can assume he is a soldier… but wait! He is just a civilian shooter, and possibly a war glorifying nut-job. At least that is what many not in the shooting community would think.

          • Dan

Shush!!!! you are all right and all wrong at the same time. While yes anti gun people will most always be anti gun, we have to win over the people on the fence. Wear camo or don’t wear camo. Either way be respectful and courteous and there shouldn’t be an issue. If someone asks give them an honest answer. The same thing has been said to hunters. It’s fine to wear camo in public but you shouldn’t do it after you’ve field dressed a deer and have blood and bits on you. Maintain a positive image. Keep politics out of it. Give facts and supporting evidence. And educate.

          • Nicks87

It’s called freedom and you don’t have to like it or agree with it.

          • G0rdon_Fr33man

lol, I doubt it is illegal to wear camo, or even uniforms with flags, in most places in Europe. I don´t know of any. At least not where I live. That does not mean you should do it.

          • Dan

            Well said.

          • supergun

I would buy a 3 piece suit if it was made in camo. Love camo. So many variations, so many choices. Only in America.

    • felix

      Congrats….hows the shoulder?

      • Luke Hasse III

Honestly not bad at all. The recoil is relatively mild given the well tuned gas system and the substantial overall weight of this weapon system.

        • Nicks87

It looked like it was kicking you pretty good. Were you able to keep shots on target very well?

          • Grindstone50k

And did that massive amount of smoke impede your view at all?

        • anomad101

Recoil always looks worse in video. I am sure my 12 gauge looks to recoil more than I feel with 00 buck. With slugs I look like my butt hits the ground.

        • bernardg

Even with the suppressor, it still came out loud. Awesome felling though.

    • Texas-Roll-Over

Cool video man, and cool gun.

Don’t worry about the trolls, their angry at life and anyone doing anything better than them. None of them would ever tell you that in real life and the only reason they do it is because they have a computer screen in front of them.

    • avconsumer2

Nearly five full seconds before the smile broke. Most impressive. Pretty sure you’re hard core if you can make it 3+. 😉

    Gun porn: gotta love it!

    • Fruitbat44

I prefer the turn ‘gun erotica’ myself . . .

  • iksnilol

I wouldn’t shoot it without earpro if you are using standard ammo. I saw the sound reading and it was at 140-142 db. Just above the treshold.

That suppressor would be great for a SBS, just shorten the barrel down to 8-10 inches.

    • Giolli Joker

You can already get an SBS Origin 12 from Fostech, 2,900$ of blocky awesomeness.

      • iksnilol

3 grand? Oh hell 2 da naw naw.

  • Thomas Weißhuhn

Would a quadruple stack amgazin work for shotgun shells? Or is a drum just that much easier to design?

    • Sianmink

folks can’t even get a double-stack to work for shotshells and you want a quad?

      • Oleg Volk

Drums relieve pressure on shotgun shells that causes them to deform in box magazines.

      • Thomas Weißhuhn

I didn’t know thats why I was asking.

  • jovar

a mag like that is like Crocodile Dundee showing his knife…

  • G0rdon_Fr33man

That looks like the most fun and unusable shotgun ever made!

  • nova3930

Full auto shotguns! When you absolutely, positively want to kill every last MFer in the room!

    • iksnilol

      Seemed pretty semi-auto-ish to me.

      • nova3930

Yeah but that’s not nearly as fun to say :p

  • Laserbait

I’m curious, if they went through the trouble of making the drum magazine that large of a diameter, why do they not make like a snail shell, and have several layers of ammo, like the Tommy gun or AK drums?

    • Tom

The problem I imagine would be getting the rimmed ammo to play well in a drum, its enough of a problem in a box magazine.

    • salty

those wraithmaker drums are not highly regarded. mdarms 20rd is where its at. and cheaper.

Stupidest gun thing that I’ve seen today. But there is still a few hours left…
