1911 Fired at 73,000 Frames Per Second

Adam Savage and Ja0ime Hyneman, of Mythbusters, use a Phantom camera to film a 1911 firing a bullet. They recorded it at a high frame rate of 73K FPS. It is glorious.

  • I know a guy who works with Phantom Cameras filming wildlife. He says they’re the most finicky thing he’s ever used, and finds them incredibly frustrating. They need lots of light, and gallons of memory. Can’t argue with the results though!

Raise you hand if you hit pause again and again to watch it even slower.

Stuff like this never gets old.

Just set playback speed to 0.25

Wasted on a 1911. Should have shot a Mosin Nagant Obrez pistol.

What are the slivery blobs that come out of the barrel about 18-19 seconds?

    gases? metal fragments?

    • USMC03Vet

      Gunpowder residue.

If you shoot something close range it is what causes stippling.

Excellent, can we get a slo-mo of the bullet pushing its way through the target next.
