Vektor CR-21 Bullpup

Larry Vickers got his hands on a rather rare firearm. The Vektor CR-21. It is a bullpup kit for the South African Military to convert their Galils. According to Larry Vickers, there are only two of these in the USA and he mentions that there is a rumor that less than 100 kits were sold for export.

You may recognize this weapon from the movie, District 9.

Why do I like fishguns so much? What’s wrong with me?

WAIT A MINUTE! It is “just” a bullpup conversion of the Galil (which is pretty much an AK)?

Suddenly the CR-21 isn’t so much of an unicorn as it once was.

I honestly never knew that either. I thought it was a separate design.

    • Early reviews of the rifle clearly mentioned this, and Vektor noted that they would be able to convert other Kalashnikov-pattern rifles for interested clients.

More plastic see why t failed to replace the R-4.

Being anti-polymer on guns in this day and age is kind of Luddish, but I have to admit this design looks like it was left out in the sun too long.

Actually, I’d call this a successful combination metal-plastic. The spine s still full-value metal. I comes to me as a surprise by word of Mr. Vickers that the origin of this creation is in US. That indicates full capability in domestic source, should M4 be replaced in future.
There is no substitute for AK type action; say and think what you want.

Remember the bullpup weapon in some scenes of the future, from the 1984 movie The Terminator? I think it was Valmet bullpup rifle that had a boxy optical sight added as a movie prop.

    • SP mclaughlin

Nope, the Muzzlite MZ14 made from a Mini 14.

Only in T2: Judgement Day. The original Human Resistance rifle is the Valmet bullpup.

Yeah, I looked it up at the imfdb after I posted. Many nice still images of that prop Valmet.
