GY6 DP-12 Double Barrel Shotgun Video Review

DP12

GY6 got his hands on a DP-12 and does a full review in this video.

At the beginning of the video, he compares the DP-12 to the KSG.

KSG dp12

GY6 runs across a couple of malfunctions and discovers a glaring issue where the DP-12 will not feed if pumped vertically. Hopefully the issue can be addressed by the manufacturer.

“Cycles like a dream????” he says? Funny guns in my dreams cycle EVERY time (even the last round) and cycles in EVERY position. So….. it’s basically a range toy. Guess I’ll stick with my Benelli M4

Not mine, but I am prone to apocalyptic nightmares. ?

    • SCW

My gun won’t even fire in my dreams. The trigger is always 10 miles long and heavy. While the enemy is bearing down on me I’m trying frantically to pull the trigger. I need a new dream gun.

I don’t have gun dreams, but yours sound like my fighting dreams, where I literally take 2 seconds to throw the weakest punches ever. *Insert Freudian analysis about impotence or other sexual inadequacy*

        • Iggy

Yeah whenever I get a gun in a dream it always seems to fire, but turns out to be an air-soft gun, I don’t even know what the Freudian analysis of that is.

My favourite remembered dream shooting a gun: a robber grabs someone’s bag and runs past me. A cop chases after him, then kneels to fire a few shots at the thief – misses with all shots.

I stepped up to the cop, calmly took the rifle: Daewoo K2, leaned between two pillars, took aim, and brought the criminal down.

Dream was so vivid that I can remember the texture of the Pillars I leaned against while shooting [I think I was actually rubbing against the bedroom wall then!] and remember the white and blue colour of the Taxi the thief was beside when my bullets cut him down [5 to the back – centre mass, and 1 to the back of the head…]

Wow. I have to lay off this stuff I’m smoking…

I once dreamt that I was in a shooting competition with my wife and parents as spectators and the barrel of my Weatherby went flaccid! 🙁

      • William Johnson

Guns in my dreams are usually out of ammo or disassemble and I can’t find all the parts.

    • Y-man

I actually got frustrated when guns in my dreams would almost never work right, then on time I took a conscious effort to INSIST with the Dream Rules Committee on the 9th Cloud on Alpha Centauri that my guns MUST work in my dreams, while guns fired at me would always fail.

It has been good since then.

Now, where did that Zanax tablet roll to?

      • Tassiebush

That reminds me of a dream I had where I was trying to shoot back at a jet strafing me with an M16a1 that pathetically spat out match sticks…

  • Vhyrus

A vepr 12 costs half what this gun costs, (potentially) holds more rounds, and will win any race.

Best bet is probably a Saiga 12ga with removable magazines. Fast firing and you can change ammo types in a heartbeat or two.

  • Jerry

Handled one at the store the other day. VERY HEAVY. I guess for what it is it needs to be, but seems a bit too heavy for me. Maybe I’m just a wimp 🙂

  • sam

I’d like it better (which isn’t saying much) with 2 triggers.

    • Avery

Yeah, I’m wondering if that’s an engineering setback or a legal one. I mean, if I want a double barrel shotgun, I want the ability to fire both barrels at the same time. Also, since he brings up the pros and cons of not having dual tubes and a shell selector, having it automatically cycle between right-to-left firing seems odd.

Great honest review which I appreciate. Showed the good and bad, live action. Kudos!

They got to get that feed issue worked out. I was keenly watching his 100 round test…and thinking if it went 100 rounds w/o a failure then I’d be on the phone ordering one today if possible. Alas, thats not the case.

I bet a 2cd gen. will come out with that issue resolved. The kel tec ksg had some similar issues with their 1st gen if i recall. I have a 2cd gen KSG and it’s reliable and a great SG IMO.

I’ll prob buy a 2cd gen one assuming I see it pass a 100 shot test

I have a bull pup Siaga 12 which I think is the best of both worlds!

Twice the Price of a KSG…

“I have a dream that one day even the state of California, a state sweltering with the heat of injustice, sweltering with the heat of oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice where gun control is a thing of the past.”

    • Secundius

      @ maodeedee.

Actually you can purchase/own the DP-12 in California. Go to GunsAmerica. com or CTGunTalkForum. com. and they’ll explain…

  • Rick A

I’ll stick with my Remington eleven hundo tactical. They’ve been working just fine since 1963.
