KeyMod for the Mossberg 500

Ergo Grips rail

At the SHOT Show, Ergo Grips debuted a number of new KeyMod handguards and accessories. One of the things that received little attention was the KeyMod rail for the Mossberg 500 series of shotguns.┬áThis 6061-T6 aluminum forend has three rows of KeyMod attachment points: one each at 3, 6, and 9 o’clock.

Due to the nature of the design, KeyMod rails tend to be thinner and lighter than Picatinny rail systems. So this gives Mossberg owners a relatively lightweight option for attaching a white light or other tool to their home defense shotgun.

The suggested retail price is $117.25. The rail is made in the United States.

too many systems on the market . i wish the community would adopt one and stick with it lol . i do like keymod but not as much as 1913 rails jmho

If I’m not mistaken, you can always add 1913/Pic rails to Keymod so you can attach non-Keymod accessories to your Keymod handrail.

        Sounds like too many adapters

        • Pontificant

It’s adapters all the way down…

  • Vitsaus

So this forend will cost nearly half the price of the gun….

    • Nashvone

About a quarter of the cost of the gun but it’s still way pricey for the limited space available on a tactical 500.

I like the stuff Ergo came out with this year, especially the cantilever rail and
the Ultra Lite S handguard, but don’t know what they have in mind with their pricing.
I’ve just done a quick search, the above mentioned ULS handguard usually sells for more than $150, which is overpriced for a simple carbine handguard IMO,
even considering the factory Cerakote job.
The only place I’ve found with a significantly cheaper price was Midway,
they offer it for a $100 clearance price.
That’s a good deal, and it’s about what the normal street price should be.
This Mossberg handguard is also a bit pricey.

just give me an old fashion steel rifle that weighs a ton but kills everyone that it shoots at.

considering that our WWII and WWI fathers were not as strong as we are now. but they still prevailed.

Back when I bought my model 500 I paid 175 bucks for it new. Makes it real difficult to want to spend 117 fore a different foreend.
