Lancer Adaptive Magwell Now Shipping

Lancer

Lancer announced that its new Adaptive Magwell is now shipping. The unit is a simple magazine funnel that can be added to virtually any mil-spec AR-style lower without tools or permanent modification to the gun. See this video on how to install the piece:

The unit is machined from 6061 T6 aluminum, and the MSRP is $99.99.

I believe that if there is enough interest in these units, Lancer will invest in a mold for making a polymer version of the Adaptive Magwell. As many readers know, having a mold made can be quite expensive. Sometimes a company will make a limited number of machined parts to test the market before deciding to invest in a mold. I have no insight into Lancer, but this could be the plan with this product.

I’d probably pay $50 for one. I like the concept and design, but they will probably have to find a cheaper means of manufacturing these to bring it into a price point I could justify.

  • Dracon1201

It needs to be cheaper. Period.

At that point, I’m just gonna save and score a deal on one of their lowers with the interchangeable magwells. That way I get a whole new gun.

That’s a clever design. I can see how it would appeal to someone who has a no-frills AR and wants to upgrade piece by piece.

Did ya see how fast he inserted that magazine? Yea that’s right try that without the adaptive magwell! Ain’t gonna happen!

This is made for 3-gun match. It is shave 1/4 sec out of your reload, then it’s worth the $.

  • Grindstone50k

They can machine these things out of titanium, but they can’t machine a mold for polymer?

    • Joshua

It was requested to be made of aluminum.

I look at this item and I smile the smile of someone who just saw something that Could have put Colt on top again in the civilian AR market by the novel and totally effective method of offering an innovative and versatile new product that value adds enough to make spending the sizable premium to acquire an entry level colt AR justifiable by making it able to economically take upgrades that are fitted to and designed for Colt guns. The ability to buy a gun that realistically can grow with the user is much easier to sell the double digit premium colts command if you can point out this cool new innovative solution AND the rich history of Colt and the many high notes over time…
