ATF Posts PSA on Exploding Targets

Capture

Dated from May 29th, the BATFE has posted a PSA from the National Explosives Task Force (NATF) on the use of binary targets. As often shown on YouTube and other public outlets, the inappropriate use of these substances can create dangerous fragmentation when contained improperly.

Further, they reminded the public that “Once mixed, ET’s are high explosives and subject to Federal regulations. Mixed ET’s may not be transported without a Federal license or permit….”

Have fun, but do so responsibly. Full PSA below:

Well they aren’t wrong, this one time.

    • n0truscotsman

I hate the ATF, but agree with them in this instance. Something about stopped clocks…

  • claymore

Restrictions coming next thanks to the morons doing stupid unsafe things with it and posting the results on youtube.

    • Vitsaus

Exactly. Clowns doing clown stuff for attention, getting the wrong attention.

    • Giolli Joker

I don’t really see new restrictions but a warning for those one that you mention who never heard about common sense.

    • Sgt. Stedenko

This started with Sons of Guns and the other Discovery Networks gun shows.

      • claymore

You hit the nail right in the head.

    • Some are so bad you think ok they died. The luck of the stupid.

      • Miles

That’s called winning the ‘Darwin Award’.

  • Spencerhut

I see stores selling this stuff in CA, which is fine. It’s totally legal to sell. But in the state where dry ice and a soda bottle will get you a felony, setting off a binary target with a state official nearby will get you arrested. And as a bonus you loose your gun rights.

    • Vitsaus

You already lost most of your gun rights by being born there or moving there in the first place.

      • Spencerhut

Wow that really added to the conversation.

      • SirOliverHumperdink

And you know he moved there?

    • Josh

So it’s legal to possess in CA in an unmixed state? But you have to have a permit to use it?

      • Spencerhut

Yup, can buy it, can’t use it.

        • Hinermad

          Like fireworks in many states,

  • Carl

Don’t put the explosive up to your shoulder though, then it’s illegal.

    On your cheek…..alright still good

    • Southpaw89

Well you could always put it on your head and do a William Tell sort of thing.

  • Peter

Dude, for fragging real – how’s that FPS Russia a***hole still alive ? ? ?

    • SirOliverHumperdink

His pronunciation is all off. No way he’s russian. Probably from Florida.

      • Steve Truffer

He’s from Georgia. The difference in his actual accent and the russian is jarring. And he’s still a moron.

  • echelon

Thank you mother, father, nanny gov agency. Now all humans, having read this, will no longer do stupid stuff with binary targets…

  • BigR

First of all the accent is obviously fake. Second, he should be wearing safety glasses. Third, he’s stupid. Standing that close to exploding targets is extremely dangerous. This guy must have a death wish. I don’t care that much about the ATF, but this s**t looks dangerous, especially for morons like. I say it should not be available to the public without some kind of special license. When you buy dynamite or TNT, don’t you have to have some sort of license to buy it, and it has to be registered? Can you imagine what a terrorist could do with this s**t? I heard they(the ATF) were wanting to put serial numbers on pressure cookers! Baseball bats and steak knives are next!
