Springfield Armory has just announced that their M1A Loaded precision adjustable stocks and XD-S 3.3″ 9mm  are now being offered in Flat Dark Earth as a stock option. The XD-S retained the black back straps, while the M1A stocks retain some of the moving pieces in black. Springfield Armory offered FDE in their traditional polymer stocks, but this is a first for their Precision Adjustable ones. Also the XD-S option seems to only be for the 3.3″ barrel, nothing yet on any other XD models.

Here is a video of Rob Leatham showing some of the features of the Precision Adjustable stock.

    Looks nice.

I want OD green on my mod 2.

    • Nicks87

Oh, now who’s trying to copy who?

      • USMC03Vet

        Glock invented OD?

        Color me purple.

  • Vitsaus

I can certainly see the utility of making sure your CCW gun blends in with the Iraqi desert.

    • Pike0331

It blends in with my tactical khakis! /sarc That being said I like FDE over just plain black, but stainless rules all

    • phil

Davidson’s is an Arizona outfit. Figure it out from there.

  • Pike0331

    dat grip zone doe

    • Dan

Yea wth? Where did the grip zone go? Why would I want and FDE gun that is going to just slip right out of my hands!

      • USMC03Vet

        Different model, Bro.

        • Dan

The hell? There’s different versions of the XDs? Grip Zone and non grip zone? Why come out with something new then not apply it to all of the new guns. I might just be cranky since I failed at being funny

          • Fracking Saves

Just like they came out with the XDm and still make the original XD’s.

          • Dan

I must have had a serious of strokes after reading the whole grip zone article. I assumed they would be the next generation of XDs. Maybe it was the huge Grip Zone on the grip that erased everything else out of my memory.

          • USMC03Vet

Grip zone is only on the mod 2. That is a different model than the XDs. It’s basically the superior in every possible way model if you don’t have baby hands due to double stack.

          • All the Raindrops

Apples to oranges. Xds is the single stack and is a great piece of kit. Ain’t got nothin’ to do with baby hands.

  • Dan

I am assuming the targets he is shooting are not steel? As it seems the bullet hits the dirt behind the target before the target drops. I don’t really have any experience shooting those type of targets so I’m not sure how they work.

    • Bill

If they are the type I’ve seen in use, they are paper or cardboard and there is a hit sensor in the target that “tells” the system to drop the target. The bullet is moving faster than the system can mechanically react. They aren’t being knocked over like a steel plate would be.

LaRue makes some really badass self-resetting steel targets for rifle use, they weigh a ton and cost as much as a nice rifle, but if you or the agency has the bucks, they are worth it. But even they drop a little slowly compared to a freestanding plate.

I’d personally like to thank the companies that A: have made it more difficult to find a pistol dropped in the woods by some numbskull while doing marijuana eradication, and B: making me add a clause to the uniform and firearms policy prohibiting non-gun-colored guns: no tan, no green, no pink Hello Kitty, no camo, no zombies, no Punisher stocks………

    • noob

Has anybody showed up to work with a gun that shoots real lethal bullets but has blue furniture just because they thought it looked good?

      • Bill

Thanks, now I have something else to worry about during training sessions. I spent more on superglue sticking the orange tips back on the airsoft training pistols…….

    • All the Raindrops

Oh relax. Sounds like you could benefit from some Marijuana eradication via a zig zag yourself. Lol! 😉

  • TankGuy

Well, if I ever get the extra working capital I’d love to get that M1. The problem is the damn things cost an arm and a leg! I’m already short an eye, can’t afford anymore body parts…
