Hogue, Inc., known primarily for their overmolded grips, stocks, and forearms, has launched a new line of holsters based off their new Automatic Retention System(tm); “…an ingenious trigger guard-lock design that’s surprisingly hard to defeat when the handgun is holstered. A discretely-located thumb release on the inside of the holster makes for an intuitive, fast draw while re-holstering is quick and consistent thanks to a spacious pistol channel.” In short, the thumb pushes in on a tab that releases the hold on the handgun.

The new holsters are available for a wide variety of handguns and the holster can be modified for various draw angles including straight, FBI angle, or cross-draw positioning. The holsters are available now in “black aerospace polymer” or a patterned carbon-fiber weave for $49.95

Hogue Inc Announces Automatic Retention Carry Holsters

Henderson, NV – Hogue, Inc., America’s premier manufacturer of firearm grips, stocks, AR components, knives, holsters, gear and accessories is proud to announce their line of automatic retention carry holsters for a wide variety of handguns. “We’re designing and building first rate carry holsters from the ground up,” explained Hogue President Aaron Hogue. “We see a great opportunity to offer a superior product at an affordable price point to practically everyone who owns a handgun.”

To that end, Hogue’s holster line includes right and left-handed designs for all kinds of handguns from most popular gun makers including Glock, Beretta, Sig Sauer, Walther, Smith & Wesson, CZ and Springfield. All models feature the company’s patented Automatic Retention System™ – an ingenious trigger guard-lock design that’s surprisingly hard to defeat when the handgun is holstered. A discretely-located thumb release on the inside of the holster makes for an intuitive, fast draw while re-holstering is quick and consistent thanks to a spacious pistol channel. “We sweated a lot of details,” said Hogue. “Each holster is uniquely designed for a specific model handgun so the fit and finish rivals a lot of custom designs out there.”

A closer look at a Hogue holster reveals a host of exclusive features built in: a flexible, comfortable paddle that conforms beautifully to the hip, an included belt plate option, and a built-in cant that eliminates the need for easy-to-lose spacers and washers. Most models can be configured for straight, FBI angle or cross draw positioning and all feature a contoured, low print profile. The entire line is intelligently-designed with an eye toward ergonomics, function and durability. “We’ve designed our carry holsters for an intuitive, standard grip fast draw that’s consistent over the life of the holster,” explained Hogue.

Hogue holsters are available for a variety of semi-automatic pistols and revolvers in your choice of solid black aerospace polymer or polymer patterned with a carbon fiber weave priced at $49.95 MSRP.

I wear a no frills holster. Any one grabs for the pistol I put his/her eyes out with my fingers first. (The his/her is to be politically correct, the rest is pretty much BS, except for a few times, long ago and far between. As the current mode is today, I have had bad places in my life, but I turned it around).

So, “automatic retention” really means “thumb-drive”.

Doesn’t look like a concealment holster. Pretty bulky.

While I appreciate Hogue trying to capture a segment of the “Retention” holster market, it will be difficult to overcome the share already owned by Safariland…[their] ALS & SLS lines are hard to beat
