Strike Industries New Viper Mod 1 Buttstock

unnamed (1)

I was talking with Strike industries today and they shared a new buttstock they will be releasing in the not too distant future. It’s an interesting design with the butt shaped to better fit those wearing body armor.

Gotta admit, pretty cool looking. Aren’t they concerned about the prominent hook shape of the buttpad getting hung up on stuff? Seems like that would be a problem.

    • Dracon1201

Hasn’t been a big problem with the MFT stock

      • Except when it snags on chest rigs when doing reloads.

        • Dracon1201

Well, there are reasons why the hook shape is a valid complaint in the first place. It’s not a really common issue, though.

  • BattleshipGrey

I like the design. I wonder how many Mods there will be. Even though there’s a bit of a “hook” to it, it’s not as aggressive as some and shouldn’t take too much effort to un-snag it IF it gets caught.

  • echelon

It’s kinda cool. I don’t like the red QD socket much. Overall I still like the MFT minimalist stock better.

  • Dracon1201

This would go great with the AB Arms handguard. Definitely match the aesthetics. I wanna do a build with red anodized accents on metal To match the stock, now.

  • Chris

Well looks like Ill be comparing this against the BCM Mod 0 with the winner going on a DD rifle and the loser going on a franken BCM.

    • Squirreltakular

I’ve been hovering between a BCM and an MFT Minimalist. Looks like we have a third contender.

  • JP

Looks a lot like a MFT minimalist stock. The red QD socket has got to go though. Wonder what it will weigh in at?

    • Strike Industries

The Red QD will be limited production offering along with other colors but Black will be the standard.

You guys need a storefront…Santa Ana is right in my hood

  • Green Hell

Why does anyone even bother to make new AR-15 stocks, while Magpul is stll there?

    • SM

      Because personal preference.

  • I want one, but will they make it with a cheek riser?

  • Wingbert

I like it. Can’t wait to see it on a rifle. Wonder what the price point will be. If it’s around the same price as the MFT I’ll give it a try.

  • Max LOP is 12″? That’s a bit short, isn’t it?

I had my Magpul CTR at 12 3/4″, and it extends to about 13 1/2″

    • the_duck

Perhaps since body armor usually adds 1″, that length was chosen on purpose?

  • Sarah

Oh my god. Forget body armor, this looks PERFECT for not digging into boobs. D:
