Taofledermaus, master of unconventional (and some would argue unsafe) ad-hoc gun modifications has taken the Kalashnikov hobby to a new level.

A well-made AK with good magazines is one of the most reliable firearms on the planet. It’s certainly no mystery why examples of the type have stuck around in third world backwaters for decades after their manufacture date. As a result, Kalashnikov rifles have been subject to a variety of ersatz modifications to keep them in the fight – and sometimes just for whatever reason. One of the more well-known field repairs was this AK modified with a shovel handle replacing the stock (it later inspired one Northeastshooters poster to create an AK receiver flat out of a shovel blade).

But what I would consider the most extreme field “repair” I’ve yet seen is the subject of a recent Taofledermaus video:

This all just goes to show that when you’re operating in a tactical office environment and the mainspring of your Kalashnikov fails, field expedient repairs are possible.
