A 14lbs bolt action rifle that got beat out by a remington in the PSR trials and costs $6000? No thanks.

OK, can I have your place in line?

That particular one he is holding was pretty light. Proof Research carbon barrel on it. Big fan of mine. And that particular gun is unique and handled well, I played with it for some time at SHOT.

But yea I have little interest when the price comes in to play. Now if they made a scaled down 308/260 model… I’d look.

It is in .338 Lapua, right? The Sako TRG-42 is like a kilogram lighter than it.

i’d rather save half the price and get a deserttech srs.
and then from there i could just spend 1400 on a savage and screw them both.
The carbon fiber barrels makes sense though, the rigidity and heat dissipation would limit point of impact shift

Doesn’t carbon fiber work as an insulator? Wouldn’t aluminum be better?

    • KzrKp

I was thinking the same thing. Just looked at the proof research site, they use a high heat conductive resin (carbon fiber is usually applied within a resin). Very interesting.

Chris Barret is losing more and more hair recently. Why can’t Barret make a R&D department solely focusing on the war against hair terrorism?
