Federal .223 Trophy Bonded Tip Ammo

Federal 223

Federal Premium introduced a new .223 Rem load at the 2015 SHOT Show in Las Vegas, NV last month. The new loading is in the Vital-Shok line and uses the company’s Trophy Bonded Tip bullet.

The Trophy Bonded Tip bullet is based on the company’s Trophy Bonded Bear Claw design. According to Federal, the bullet uses a neon-colored polymer tip with a boat tail design to improve accuracy and flatten the trajectory. The company states the bullet is designed for “optimum expansion at any range,” and retains more than 90% of its weight.

These new loads should be shipping soon (if they aren’t already) and will carry a suggested retail price of $26.95 for a box of 20 rounds.

Note to tactitool guys, before you complain about the price, this is Fudd ammo. That said, I have not been ire seed with Federal’s Bear Claw bullets in .270, .308. or .300 WSM rifles on elk inside of 300 yards. This is only a five elk study, but the weight retention isn’t up to the advertised levels.

    Like always: OVER PRICED!!!!!!!!!!

I guess you didn’t see Andrew’s comment above.

Have you gone into a sporting goods store and priced hunting ammo? The MSRP of $26.95 is low-to-average for “mid-grade” hunting ammo. This isn’t ammo for paper-punching or terrorizing your local rabbit population.

Don’t tell em it will go thru soft body armor, the ATF will ban it. (I don’t know if it will or wont), just a dig at the ATF.
