DOCTER Sight C Reflex Sight

DOCTER is a brand of Analytik Jena of Germany, a high-end corporation specializing in analytical measuring technology, life science, and optoelectronics. At SHOT Show this year they were exhibiting their Sight C reflex red dot sight that has some impressive features. The DOCTER Sight C is specifically tailored to hunters, but has law enforcement, self-defense, and target shooting applications as well.

DOCTER evaluated many exterior coating materials to ensure the Sight C would endure in wilderness use, and selected Cerakote coating. The Cerakote coating is based on ceramics technology, and offers outstanding corrosion and abrasion protection. In addition, the extremely hard Cerakote finish provides long-term durability that has been tested to be up to 60% more resistant than Teflon coatings. Cerakote is recognized world-wide in the firearms community as an outstanding finish in firearms and firearm-related accessories.

The DOCTER Sight C is incredibly compact and offered in four colors.

The Sight C has easy to use elevation adjustments on the top, rear of the sight, and windage adjustments on the right side of the sight. The adjustment screws are flat-head, and DOCTER includes a screwdriver for adjustments. The adjustments make around .25 MOA adjustments per click, and there is a disc guide that is placed on the adjustments and screwdriver to clearly mark directional movement.

The battery compartment is on the bottom of the Sight C, requiring the sight to be dismounted to replace the CR 2032 battery. However, the Sight C has a small magnet in the mounting structure that aids in battery placement, and helps secure the battery during firing to ensure continuous and reliable sighting.

The advertising is heavy on hunting, but law enforcement, target shooting, and self-defense are all options for the Sight C.

There is no mechanical on/off switch. Using integrated control electronics the DOCTER Sight C automatically adjusts the sight brightness based upon the lighting facing the shooter’s target. There is a light sensor on the front of the sight that controls this feature, so any other rifle accessories cannot block that sensor for proper optic operation.

DOCTER provides new softcovers standard with each Sight C to help protect optical glass from weather or impacts during use, as well as an extra layer of protection when storing firearms. These softcovers come with an integrated “flipping lug” that allows a shooter to quickly remove the covers if a shot is needed immediately. There is an integrated 4-point loss protection that fixes the cap to the DOCTER®sight C, which effectively prevents pulling the cap off without using the flipping lug.

The soft covers come in black and safety orange.

Soft covers come in savage stainless & safety orange. Note the quick “flipping lug” at the rear of the cover.

Placing the softcover onto the sight will turn the sight “off”, until removed and the sensor will then turn the sight “on” to the appropriate brightness level. The Sight C does not have a diopter adjustment feature, so slight differences in optic sight appearance may occur due to nature human eye deficiencies.

There are several mounting options for rifles, shotguns, and handguns, including Weaver style mounting. DOCTER provides a guide on which mounting plate to use for each available option. There are handgun options for Sig Sauer, Glock, S&W, CZ, H&K, Walther, Colt, BO-Mar, and neutral.

If there was a specific area of the firearms market that saw a large introduction of new products at SHOT Show this year it was in the category of optics and sights. In particular, the popularity and rapidly expanding market for red dot or reflex optics, brought about several new options. The Docter sight C appears to be an excellent option in the area of reflex sights.
