Strike Industries Introduces KeyMod for HK Rifles

Strike Rail Installed

Strike Industries is now pre-selling a KeyMod hand guard for HK 416 and MR556 rifles. The hand guard will also fit the .22 LR clone of the HK 416 made by Walther.

These units have a Picatinny rail at the 12 o’clock position with KeyMod attachment points at the 3, 6 and 9 o’clock positions. Strike Industries will ship three Picatinny rail sections with the hand guards. Four QD points are built into the units.

The hand guard will be available in 9″, 11″ and 13″ lengths. The 9″ carries a MSRP of $179. The other lengths increase in cost by $10 per each additional 2″. Hand guard weights run from 10.3 oz to 14.1 oz depending on length.

HKPro.com got an early look at these units here.

Color me ignorant, but how are the HK uppers different from standard uppers that they need their own aftermarket?

    • Forest C. Adcock

they cost 4 times as much.

      • BattleshipGrey

LOL. Very true. At least the SI rail is comparable in price to others.

        • Blue Centurion

The SI handguard is very reasonably priced.

    • BattleshipGrey

I suppose I could’ve looked at the pic again; is it that the rail sits up higher?

      • mig1nc

Yes, they are higher to accommodate the piston assembly.

    • echelon

Because HK. And they hate you.

      • echelon

Thank you kind censor fairies for editing my comment to remove the “And they hate you” part. It’s a running joke, sheesh.

And double thank you for removing my ability to edit the comment as well, that’s top notch…

  • mig1nc

I’ll never understand why people make keymod handguards and put rails the only place where you would mount a keymod accessory. They should go keymod all the way and let people use the keymod rail sections wherever needed.

    • Blue Centurion

The Bravo Co. KMR is that way. It also only weighs 7.7 oz. for a 13″ handguard.

  • KestrelBike

This thing is going to take the targeted .0002% of the market by storm!

    • JSmath

Not a bad move when the other 99.9998% of the market is flooded with parts from crap to amazing, bargain bin cheap to pants-on-head retardedly expensive.

  • avconsumer2

KeyMod, M-LOK, KeyMod, M-LOK… somebody wake me when we’re back to 1913.

  • We’ll be doing a complete review of this SI H&K rail in the very near future.

  • mig1nc

That’s good news! Thanks for the reply, SI.
