So, how would you like to wake up and find that your surplussed corporate truck had been bought by foreign militants and converted into a technical?
This picture popped up a couple of days ago on twitter and and been making the rounds on some news services.
t’s all because of a photo posted on an Islamic militant group’s Twitter feed. It shows one of Mark-1 Plumbing’s old work trucks, with the logo on the side, turned into an anti-aircraft firing weapon on the front lines of Syria’s civil war.
Now the family and business are being harassed by trolls that think that Mark-1 is aiding the fight in Syria.
Given the prolific comments on the “10-Foot Sniper Rifle” post, let’s see if we can discuss this weapon system (and educate us on the details). So, who here can identify the actual weapon that has been mounted on this truck? What kind of mount would be needed to make this a viable platform? Are these vehicles better to park and shoot, or can they be reliably fired on the move? The article says “anti-aircraft”, though who knows based on how these things are adapted for alternate uses.
Take away lesson of the day: Make sure you sterilize anything that you surplus.
Thanks to Jay D for the find.
