Ergo Grip Ultra Lite S KeyMod Hand Guard

Ergo Grip announced the release of a two piece hand guard for the AR-style rifle. The Ultra Lite S uses the KeyMod attachment technology to allow the addition of accessories without the need for a lot of unused Picatinny rails weighing the gun down.

The hand guard is made of aluminum and weighs 4.9 ounces. According to Ergo Grip, this is less than a standard M-4/M-16 plastic hand guard. The Ergo hand guard is less than 2″ high and only 1.6″ wide. The top of the hand guard does have a full length Picatinny rail.

A black hard coat anodized finish is standard, but the hand guard can also be ordered with a Cerakote finish of dark earth or olive drab. The MSRP is $176.47 for these units.

How skinny is too skinny? It’s like looking at one of those anorexic super models…

Yeah, I don’t like how exposed that front handguard mount is. I would definitely touch that without adequate coverage.
It saves an OZ on the same sized MI drop in keymod, but the MI doesn’t have such a bell like profile at the fore and aft.

Something about these handguards just looks off….. I can’t put my finger on it

I don’t need to shed weight off my rifle THAT badly…

Looks like it would be intended to be used with keymod panels that would give a comfortable grip without being obnoxiously obese like, say KAC rail panels on a RAS.

How do they deal with hot barrels? Too many of the fore ends do NOT have adequate heat shields. Having so much rail space, means many people will overload the thing. I’ve done it a couple of times where I install all the devices, only to strip them off to make the gun better handling.
