1911 Primer Tube Filler

1911 primer

Another NASGW show announcement from Hornady is the Lock-N-Load 1911 Auto Primer Tube Filler. The pistol shaped device is a semi-auto method of loading trays of 100 primers into a tube designed for the Lock-N-Load loading press made by Hornady.

The red tool uses a pair of AAA batteries to power a small vibrating motor to load the tube with the primers. Hornady states that a single tray of primers (100) can be loaded in about 10-15 seconds. As a guy who has loaded tubes one primer at a time, this is certainly an interesting tool.

The MSRP is $72.08, and street prices are generally cheaper.

Dear Hornady, stop making stupid gimmicky shit and put more effort into cost reduction/lean efficiency. We’d rather shoot bullets for cheap, than primers into a tube. Regards, every fucking shooter, everywhere.

It’s such a fine line between stupid and clever.

It’s their knockoff of a vibra prime. Which is actually an incredibly useful device. I own one and love it. There’s a reason why when they were unavailable for years they went from costing $50 for a kit to selling for $150 used upto $300 NIB.

That being said, the smooth tray may not be the best idea, and it does look to be overcomplicated and the 1911 shape is totally pointless.

I can see how something like this would come in handy but not in the shape of a 1911 which just seems gimicky to me. I think that some sort bench or table top unit with a larger hopper would be much more useful than this little handheld unit.

I agree. There’s no reason for this to be gun-shaped. But I guess if it looks stupid and works, it ain’t stupid.

Every time they say “1911 Auto Primer Tube Filler” I just think of “wacky flailing inflatable tube man”.
