Brad Pitt likes guns

NY Daily News writes

There’s a rite of passage where I grew up of inheriting your ancestors’ weapons,” Pitt said, according to The Independent. “My brother got my dad’s. I got my grandfather’s shotgun when I was kindergarten.”

Pitt also detailed his early history with guns, revealing that his very first gun was an air gun, followed by a shotgun he received at age 6. By the time he was 8, he had already fired a handgun.

The “Fury” star also said when he’s home with his wife, Angelina Jolie, and their children, he doesn’t feel safe unless he has a gun in the house.

Thanks to Jay for the tip.

Ashton Kutcher is apparently another one…
“You have to have a gun under your bed,” Kutcher said. “…I don’t have security.”

    Apparently that’s his personal gun.

    • “If this gun goes off, I need to buy a new webcam”

    • atm

Carried an XD a few years back while camping.

    • Okay, “Killers” sucked, but this doesn’t. I consider this a win.

  • big daddy

Good I hope more gun people come out of the closet.

    • sianmink

It can have a real cost for actors who may find themselves backballed by some directors/producers/studios so respect for those who come out.

      • Anthony Williams

*black-balled 😀 Although backballing would be an interesting concept.

        • sianmink

The L key on my laptop is hard to actuate sometimes.

          • Anthony Williams

I figured as much, (^_^) however I think someone should explore backballing to it’s inevitable conclusion.

          • Laserbait

            I wonder if it’s similar to backboring…:

  • ghost

With Angelina Jolie I would not feel safe in the house without a firearm either.

      • mikewest007

        She prefers knives, though.

        • iksnilol

          Even more kinky!

          • Laserbait

That’s what they said about Lorena Bobbit too… 😀

  • LongBeach

I don’t like his acting, every character he plays seems to take a back seat to Brad Pitt playing Brad Pitt playing ______, but otherwise he seems like he’s not an idiot. Brad Pitt, so hot right now…

  • Taylor TX

I remember hearing about him building an indoor range in their house as some kind of gift to the misses. I honestly think hes super a big celeb that even being pro-gun really wouldnt have much of an effect on his career at this point.

    • Giolli Joker

Yep, with his wife they have enough money and influence to dictate rules in Hollywood rather than having to follow them… anyway, that’s cool when “super-big celebs” declare themselves pro-gun, especially even considering their exposure and their involvement in charity and such that makes them likeable to most.

      • Taylor TX

Im honestly curious if theyre dictating the rules or merely have become more or less impervious to the rules that govern non well established, less successful actors. I might have used another term than super big celebs, but I think it was the whiskey talkin 🙂

  • Dan

The real question is, do these celebs think us common folk should have guns? That is the question I would like asked to Celebs who have guns.

    • Jeff S

I would imagine that because he grew up around guns, he doesn’t hold that belief. The ‘guns for me, not for thee’ crowd probably have no background with firearms nor do they carry/use them… That’s for their hired bodyguards (private or government).

  • me ohmy

yeah.. never mind he’s an elitist liberal who wants guns only for “HIM AND OTHERS OF HIS LEVEL” pass
basically a fudd with better guns

  • Anonymous

Am I the only one here who generally couldn’t care less about whether or not an actor – or any other artist or entertainer – likes guns? They’re either talented at what they do or they’re not.

    • JumpIf NotZero

Yeeeaaaaa but then you have asshats like Leam Neeson who make their living portraying a negative stereotype of gun violence, in his case playing multiple sociopath serial killers… Then rail against civilian ownership of guns whenever they can.

So, do I care that Pitt has guns? No, but do I respect that he isn’t a hypocritical d bag like Neeson? Yea, I do.

The other thing to keel in mind is that Pitt might be against guns for you so long as he had his. Or likewise against “some” scary guns, or 11+ round mags. So while high fives aren’t in order until I see him speak at an NRA meeting, he’s definitely not as bad as others.

      • Sickshooter0

Don’t forget to mention Daniel Craig, who wields his Walther PPK, H&K H416D10RS amongst others to save humanity as James Bond but is a fervent anti-gunner.

        • Grindstone50k

Why are we shocked that British actors don’t like guns?

        • Not just a fervent anti-gunner, he has an amusing and ironic aversion to handguns in particular.

        • Tinklebell

Ironically, the same goes for another Bond, Pierce Brosnan.

    • USMC03Vet

Problem is so many celebs these days are ardent about having their will known especially when it comes to the 2nd amendment even if it makes them some of the worst hypocrites out there. The fact somebody dare go against the herd in that industry is notable.

Brad sounds like a responsible adult and isn’t trying to limit constitutional rights from the little people which is a nice change from the Hollywood hypocrites.

      • MclarenF1Forever

At least Brad is not like Stallone who is anti-2A and yet has his own conceal carry license from LA county:

        • supergun

Don’t watch hypocrite stallone anymore. With the MILLIONS he made in his gun movies where many were killed, he is a coward and fake.

        • John Swinkels

rocky the fucwit. would love to punch the little turd in the mouth

      • yessah3

I know for a fact he smokes dope like nobody’s business.

        • EhCanadianEh

That’d make him a mighty mellow fellow.

      • EhCanadianEh

the US government and its media pay movie starts to push their message.

It could be donald duck or GI JOE marketing war to kids, Evil Presly doing the same, or a bunch of them “demanding a plan to fight gun violence” (ie ban civilian firearms ownership) its all propaganda in the end to push the state’s agenda.

    • J S

Consider this. Most anti’s fight for gun control from a non factual point of view. They fight with words like “its for the children”
If you want to win a battle of hearts and minds, you cant have this argument with facts. YOU can win it with popularity contest though. shame it has come down to that, huh?

  • Azril @ Alex Vostox

Dolph Lundgren doesn’t need so-called ‘firearms’. He just be Dolph Lundgren and all his enemy shall be broken. If he dies, he dies

    • avconsumer2

Fun fact – has a chemistry degree, chemical engineering degree, masters in chemical engineering, and had a Fullbright scholarship to MIT when he fell for Grace Jones (in service as her bodyguard,) – attended MIT 2 weeks then decided to act.

  • waffen SS

just a PR stunt to get red-blooded American males to see his gay new tank movie -WWII-blah blah blah- Holocaust- blah blah blah- Hitler- blah blah blah.

    • A Guest

That name plus that comment seems strangely appropriate.

Plus, this goes way back. He bought Angelina Jolie a firing range as an engagement gift. Sometimes I wish I were engaged to Brad Pitt…

      • Rob

I think I’d rather have Angelina and the range over Pitt and the range.

    • Still can’t get over you lost that war huh

      • schizuki

You know what’s really odd about the Nazis? They were outrageously homosexual, yet they persecuted gays. The world would have been a better place if they could have accepted themselves, and simply enjoyed their Waffen-SS wrestling matches and swimming parties without displacing their unnecessary guilt feelings onto others.

I mean, seriously, who carries a riding crop without a horse?

I assume today’s Nazis are equally conflicted about their sexuality.

  • Keith

Just want to stick up for Brad here, we’re both from rural Missouri. He’s an extremely talented actor and one of the very few celebs i honestly respect.

  • David Johnson

I’m gonna be the cynic here but this strikes me as a pretty brilliant viral marketing move for Fury. Not that I doubt that he feels this way, but the timing for this is interesting.

  • Jim_Macklin

Sounds like he came from a good family and he is passing on the same culture to his family.

  • PatrickHenry1789

I seen an interview with Rob Lowe a while back. IIRC, it was with that scumbag Queers Morgan. He pretty much said the same thing. He owns guns and didn’t have a problem with other people lawfully owning them.

  • gunslinger

didn’t he and AJ try to buy a shooting range in france or something?

  • supergun

In many of the cities where illegal gun laws have been passed, there is more gun violence in those cities. The very people who need a firearm to protect their selves and their home have voted for the moron-so-callled-politicians who have taken the voter’s 2nd Amendment Right away. Ironic,,,,isn’t it?

  • dockilldare

he should be screaming at the top of his lungs for the 2nd amendment. he is one of these people with a lot of “pull” in Hollywood and he has every right and responsibility to do so. thank you Mr Pitt for finally coming out, now please just start shouting about it. we need the help from good folks like yourself.

  • Secundius

Hell, if I could afford it, I’d get one too…

  • EhCanadianEh

So all you crazed fans out there that want to stalk these guys or break into their home……….. move along to a softer target.

  • walter12

I thought that he was just another arch leftist Hollywod scum.

  • goofball

Then why so vocal against conservatives on other issues he supports/disagrees but so silent in condemnation of liberal democrats with this?

  • talon55101

If true, I’ll have to re-evaluate my opinion of Brad Pitt. I saw the Movie Fury and have to say that was the Absolutely most authentic WW2 movie I’ve EVER SEEN. That was even a REALTiger tank they used. I only have 2 questions. Was FURY a Sherman M4a3e8 HVSS or was it a (British) Sherman FireFly? Difficult to tell. Also WHY was Pitt using a MP-43/44/Stg-45? That rifle would be an EXTREMELY poor choice as a personal weapon for an American soldier in WW2, (Ammo supply and friendly fire). Other then those items EXCELLENT movie.
