Discovery looking for “outpost-style” gun store

discovery-channel

It seems the general public are still enjoying gun-related reality TV. Discovery are on the lookout for a family owned outpost-style gun store. If you know of any that fit the below description, get in touch with the project’s casting person Amberlee Mucha …

I am currently on the hunt for a family owned and operated trading post, gun store or all in one wilderness outpost that feels like a time capsule to the old west (or similar). I’m looking for something relatively remote and rugged. The kind of place where all the mountain men would trek in to get their supplies for the month (or something similar).

Thank You,
Amberlee S. M. Mucha

How much do you want to bet the first episode is gonna be filled with dramatic music and explosions?

    • Cal S.

That depends. Is Michael Bay directing?

  • Zachary marrs

    Dont take the bait

    • gunslinger

      run run away.

Sportsman Channel has been killing it ratings wise although the big cable providers are trying to kill it by putting in the highest premium packages. Americans love firearms.

I wish American Shooter was still around. Loved that show. Also Tales of The Gun when History Channel was about history.

    • “Also Tales of The Gun when History Channel was about history.”
Few things posted on this website have rang truer than that statement sir.

      • Zachary marrs

        I f#cking loved that show!

      • atm

Gun Stories is pretty similar to Tales of the Gun in content.

      • 11b

        Tales of the Gun. Yes.

      • DiverEngrSL17K

Alex, I was going to say the same, but you said it first, so I will gladly second your remarks!

    • sianmink

I hate that I can’t get Sportsman channel and Cooking channel without paying for the top tier premium package. =(

      • BS

Your choices of channels makes you sound like someone I need to get to know. If the aroma of fresh bread has to go away, I’d prefer it to be replaced with the smell of gunpowder.

        • sianmink

Cooking Channel is what Food Network was 10-15 years ago. Fun, a bit not taking itself seriously, and not stuffed full of competition shows and prima-donna douche-chefs. I wish I could still watch it. =/

American Shooter reruns still show on CMT. I DVR them, but it seems like I get a new episode every day.

Whaddya mean!?!?! Bigfoot, aliens and pawn shops ain’t history?
At least for a while History International/H2 was what History used to be, but that’s no longer the case now either.
Now that there’s no learning on The Learning Channel, no history on The History Channel and Discovery is basically all reality TV crap, if not for sports I could completely do without a TV.

Thought the Bigfoot stuff was animal planet…

Frontier liquor in Fallon, NV? Lol

    • 77fiver

Haha, another Fallon- ite reads here! Cheers, though I don’t really think it fits the bill…

Sent her an email about Pioneer Market in Fillmore Utah, they’re the ones on Pawnstars that had the Gatling gun. Hope something good comes of it or them. Really nice folks.

    • Zachary marrs

Dude, they will vilify them. Look at all the gun related programming other than the sportsman channel, all portrayed as ignorant racist hillbillys

They have a bear on the roof & half their inventory is antique rifles & shotguns.

  • Nevabeendonebefoitsagamechanga

They need a new program to replace “Neva Been Done Befo: The Show”

  • gunslinger

    neva ben dun ba-fore

  • UnrepentantLib

If it doesn’t involve spraying bullets at targets that explode it’ll be a step up.

  • Guest

No! No more reality TV! PLEASE!

  • stephen

They forgot to add… “No pedofiles” in the wording – or is that automatically assumed?

  • john huscio

PBS, of all stations, used to have a gun digest-type show on in the afternoon here (west michigan) in the mid 2000s (2004-6) featuring all kinds of pistols and rifles…..the only one I remember clearly was their piece they did on Alexander arms’ .50 Beowulf rifle…

  • DiverEngrSL17K

No thank you. If there is anything that is the diametric opposite of actual reality, it is so-called “reality” TV. This sort of nauseatingly over-dramatized pedantic rubbish aimed at entertaining and exploiting an otherwise unaware public for the sake of ratings ( and the earnings that accompany those ratings ) has no place where hard truths and factual history are still held in the highest regard, even as opinions might differ.

  • Cymond

If I did know of such a place, I would never “out” them to the media.

  • mosinman

Discovery channel: this concept has nevuh been dun befoe!

  • jay

  • Cynic

I miss the weaponology show and the old old gun show with guys from the British firearms museums and the sweet but odd guy from Sandhurst who is now a girl.

Àlso I love old school food network the good eats and reruns of Floyd on food. Guy fieri has killed the food network for me.

There’s a show on ‘yesterday’ in the UK which is all about churchill’s bodyguard a dramatisation of his biography
