    My Bro, Mosin.

Is that one of the carbine versions?

    • I believe so.

      • Mike

No, I’m the guy who sent the photo and it’s actually a 91/30

        • DiverEngrSL17K

Nicely-presented photograph, Mike — thanks for sharing! It’s really great to see historically-significant firearms like the Mosin-Nagant and Tokarev TT-33 being given some exposure here on TFB.

It’s an M91/30 full-sized rifle equipped with a 3.5X side-mounted PU scope. As far as I know, no carbine versions of the Mosin-Nagant ( M38 and M44 ) were ever adapted as sniping rifles.

The PU scope, along with it’s PE and PEM predecessors, was based directly on imported pre-war German Zeiss optical technology plus improvements, so it was a truly excellent scope for the battlefield — rugged and solidly-built, utterly reliable, accurate with first-rate glass lens quality, easy to maintain, simple to use, and with sufficient magnification and a wide FOV that made it extremely versatile across a wide range of scenarios.

In Soviet Russia, rifle corrodes the ammo.

NO COMRADE, IN SOVIET RUSSIA CHEAP AMMO BUYS YOU!

    Can I play?

  • capybara

A carbine sniper? I don’t think so. All of the Mosin snipers were 91/30s. No M44s/M38 snipers.

    • Cymond

What makes you think it’s a carbine? I can’t see any markings, and I don’t know the details of different Mosin-Nagant models well enough.

      • DiverEngrSL17K

        Hi, Cymond :

Capybara is correct in stating that all of the Mosin-Nagant sniper rifles were based on full-sized M91/30 rifles, and that none were based on the M44 or M38 carbines. I think the context of his initial query about “carbine sniper(s)” may have been misunderstood because of the way in which it was couched.

Oh man, now I need a Makarov to go with our SKS.

Maybe I’ll just get a Vz 58 to go with our CZ-83 instead…

    • pbla4024

That would be CZ-82, that was the military model.

  • Tenacious221

Do you even 7.62 bro? 🙂

  • JACK’S MAD

I would like to know where you got the bent bolt?

    • gunslinger

if it was a “sniper” it came with one.
