Kids, drug money does not buy class. Proof of this are the many hideous custom guns confiscated by Latin American law enforcement from drug lords. Back in 2009 I blogged a photo of a highly customized golden AK with a horse head as the front sight. I have embedded it below. That gun was clearly made by the same craftsman as the above chicken-sight AK. I was unable to find out when or where this gun was captured.

The horse head gun

Golden guns can be done right. The Henry Golden Boy  is one such example. Compare and contrast with the golden train wrecks above.

    ORALE!!!!!

While I don’t disagree that the Henry is a better-looking rifle, remember that “class” is subjective. Other cultures go in for different aesthetics.

Consider Europe’s own Baroque period, particularly the architecture.

    • Punster

I say if it ain’t Baroque, don’t fix it.

      • allannon

Ouch. That pun is older and more baroque than baroque. 🙂

    • CA

You’re comparing a failed art project to the Baroque period? I don’t think so.

  • Ratcraft

That AK is designed in the classic “golden dickhead” style. made passé’ by the 1980’s and early 90’s Los Angeles blingsters, all about diamonds now G.

  • Patrick Karmel Shamsuddoha

i don’t care what you guys say i like them both

  • Nick Pacific

Who wouldn’t want a golden chicken FSP? I’m confused.

  • USMC03Vet

    That’s a nice cock.

#Things I never thought I’d say on TFB

    • Now that’s just gross:-)

    • gunslinger

      jealous?

    • DiverEngrSL17K

      Hee hee!

    • dan

Wow thank you! You really think so? Aren’t you just the nicest guy….wait you’re talking about the gun. Yea haha good one. 🙁

    • Ira M

I think that might be the tamest thing i’ve ever heard a Marine say.

  • iksnilol

I think they look nice except for the out of place looking front sights and the lack of proper buttstocks.

Just because it is an AK doesn’t mean you can’t engrave or gold plate it.

    • Bp. David

Sure–look at how some manufacturers have screwed up commemorative 1911’s!

    • I was actually thinking, “Just because it IS an AK, doesn’t mean you have to make it even uglier!”

  • bk

not that bad think as a accessory

    • Bp. David

I wonder if they use 14K pimp chains as 2-Points and sling them full front when they go to the disco.

  • Renegade

I once recall seeing a Luger with a long barrel that had been decked out with gold, ivory and either chrome or silver. It was both hideous-looking and hideously priced.

    • Bp. David

I once saw a plastic Bushie AR that was almost as hideous–decked out with fake Leupold Mk 4, “10,000 Lumen” tac light and about 14 rails full of other Chinese crap. It was STILL worth less than the $399 the idiot paid for the plastic gun itself!

  • Mystick

That AK has a huge cock!

    • gunslinger

i guess they felt inferior to the AR15 🙂

  • EspoMan

Well at least they left the gas tube alone..

  • Ken

Interesting that they retain the thumbhole stocks. Maybe they do that just to have more wood to work with. The bottom one is a cut up Chinese sporter AK (possibly MAK-90), indicated by the two axis pins (no full auto) and the front trunnion rivet pattern (uniquely Chinese and Albanian). I’m not sure if the “stock” is made from the original MAK-90 stock or from scratch. The upper one looks like it’s at least made from a full auto AKM of some sort.

  • Cornelius Carroll

Is the beak adjustable for windage?

    • gunslinger

no, but the tail feathers show wind

  • janklow

chicken AK seems FAR superior to the Henry.

  • echelon

My problem isn’t the chicken, the gold or the engraving…it’s the foregrip! Try taking a 7.62 mag out with it that close! There’s a reason why the foregrips on the Hungarian guns are canted forward people…

  • H92

Isn’t that the firearms equivalent of pimping out an old Honda?

    • dan

      Yes yes it is

  • tincankilla

if there must be gold, i would have made the furniture gold and perhaps a dark, glossy bluing on the rest.

  • guest

I guess “the golden cock gun” was not a name that would fit an article that well…

  • DiverEngrSL17K

Well now, there really is no accounting for taste, bad or otherwise, is there? I love AK’s, but this is absolutely hideous — and clearly reflects the mentality of the erstwhile owner. Come to think of it, the same sort of treatment for any firearm would be equally ridiculous.

  • Sulaco

Attended an ATF seminar a few years ago and got to handle a gold plated AK from Saddam’s palace (one of them anyway) and a tricked out gold plated Mexican 1911 with black opal sights and pearl grips. God, I thought those were gaudy! Oh and one of those Nazi four barrel belt buckles, now that was cool…

  • Giolli Joker

It might be a collaboration with the SIG Sauer custom/engraving shop:

Seen it Friday at the Abu Dhabi ADIHEX… crazy.

I always thought a quality Underfolder AK done in the the same gold finish as the Goldenboy with a nice stained wood forend would look pretty awesome. Always wanted one. Would really give off that “dictator-y” feel 😀
