Recently, TFB published a review of the DTAC Mongoose recoil-absorbing stock. I was impressed with the idea, but not impressed by the execution. There are three ways companies deal with a negative reviews:

1. Whine, throw a tantrum, and burn bridges (uncommon, but very public).
2. Deal with it (most common).           -or-
3. Proactively respond & embrace the review (rare)

DTAC has taken the latter approach, constantly communicating with TFB’s Editing staff and myself asking for feedback and working on a new version of the recoil-absorbing stock. Color me impressed, especially for a new company.

Thank you for your interest in the DTAC Mongoose.  What you see on this website is the first generation of our new stock.  It is a very limited run we have brought to market in order to test our concept of a light weight, detachable, recoil reducing stock for the Mossberg 500 series of shotguns.  Producing this batch has allowed us to provide samples to and get vital feedback from experts.  Although the product in its current form is solid and safe, there are many improvements we expect to make for the next generation of stock.  Some of the improvement planned for the next generation are as follows, shorter length of pull, higher initial break away force, a solid black finish, and a slightly less “play” in connection.  As mentioned, we have feedback from several expert shooters, but we also want feedback from the general shooting public.  To that end, any one who purchases (or has purchased) a DTAC Mongoose and sends feedback to customerservice@dtacproducts.com will get a next generation version sent to them free of charge when they become available(sometime in 2015).  We hope to lower our price for our full production model, and as an additional incentive to gather feedback, we will be lowering the price on our current units to $165.00.  We only have a few stocks left and this offer is on a first come, first serve basis.  If you like the overall concept we have come up with, this is a good opportunity to have a hand in this product’s development.
