    reporters, what do you expect?

    • Jacqueshacques

I expect them to ask a question when they don’t know something, which is exactly what this reporter did here.

      • Matrix3692

no, the reporter mention above didn’t ask a question of what he didn’t know, he speculate on what he believe (without any supporting facts) and let rumors run amok (and jokes by the way).

      • wetcorps

You would expect him to do his research beforehand…

      • Limonata

I expect reporters to research the issue not to crowd source an answer. This is why so much reporting is crap these days.

      • USMC03Vet

        lol no

He already had an idea then asks random bozos on the internet to confirm said bozo idea.

That is terrible “journalism”, but it shows exactly what internet journalism is.

What saddens me is that there are undoubtedly people out there who now firmly believe that police are using “potentially lethal” rubber bullets on “peaceful protesters demanding justice.”

How hard would it really have been for that reporter to look up what rubber bullets looked like? Journalists have an obligation to be educated.

    • dan citizen

That police are using potentially lethal rubber bullets on peaceful protesters demanding justice is not in question.

      – Police use rubber bullets
      – Rubber bullets are most definitely potentially lethal, it says so right on the package.
      – During recent protests police officials admitted that rubber rounds had been used on non violent protesters (and promised to tighten up protocols)

As to what rubber bullets look like…. more than 10 varieties were used at the latest ruckus in Missouri. Rubber bullets come in a wide variety of shapes and colors.

-Some are spheres anywhere form 6mm up to 40mm
-some look like little hockey pucks 9mm to 40mm
-some look like rubber rockets 18mm to 40mm
-some look like rifle or pistol bullets
-many have fabric tails or drogue strings
Many are shot filled bags, frangible balls, or soft nosed ogives that come apart leaving only remnants

I worked for Ballistech and worked with Def-Tec years ago and stay abreast of the industry.

Thank you Sir for the truth.

    • floppyscience

I agree, but what does this have to do with Huffington Post? Their writers aren’t journalists. The site a blog and occasionally a news aggregator.

  • mechamaster

‘Real metal bullet as makeshift earplug’ or ‘rubber earplug as makeshift rubber bullet’…

Long time ago, I watch Mr. R.Lee Ermey show when he wear an pair of bullets as an earplug.

    • USMC03Vet

haha seen it on the range before. Not sure how effective it is, but none the less seen it in the Corps.

      • MattInTheCouv

i’ve done it. works good. 9mm or 380, but i could only get them to stay in going primer end first.

      • Cavscout

My hole troop ended up at a range in Basic without the extra ear pro. Most still had both issued rubber ones, but everyone else missing one or both had to chew up cardboard for plugs. :p

    • Giolli Joker

They seem to be casings, rather than bullets…

  • Joe

It’s the Hpost, if your wanting real journalism you be better off looking for it at a zoo.

  • Patrick R

Thank god Jerry didn’t tell us the splits ….

    • Thracian Beast

That’s funny! Not many will understand why. Hahaha but I agree.

  • bbmg

    “Huffington Post Journalist”

An oxymoron if I’ve ever seen one.

  • R

I think that Jerry won teh internets this week.

Wonder what magnum primers would do?

    • Thracian Beast

Burn the crap out of it a little bit more. Here’s a visual on standard vs mag primers

      http://riflemansjournal.blogspot.com/2009/06/primers-large-rifle-primer-study.html

They wont let me post pictures here anymore for some reason.

Holy shit it works again!!!! OK

Small pistol to magnum pistol would work in the same fashion.

        • Thracian Beast

Should be an M suffix on the Rem 9.5 but in all honesty you never know what you are gonna get

  • Cherryriver

I guess this shows up all those bottom-feeder-lovers that revos are indeed more reliable!
How many Glocks would reliably fire rubber boolits? Eh?

  • gunslinger

    i’ll just leave these here

  • The *really* sad part of this, in my view, is that those ear plugs look more like the ones you get at Lowes or another hardware store, as opposed to the kind normally used in shooting.

  • Zebra Dun

I wonder what he thought the little plastic strings were for?

  • R T

Only thing funnier would have been Jerry using a couple of 38’s as ear plugs during the experiments!
