POTD: 12 gauge Remington 870 Police USSS (United States Secret Service)

Stephen sent us this beautiful photo of 12 gauge Remington 870 Police USSS with a walnut stock.

My knowledge on this firearm is not collector-level at all. Here is what I believe to be true: This is a 12 gauge Remington 870 Police USSS with a 14″ barrel, fixed MOD choke, and a 3″ chamber. It has Ghost Ring sights. The front sight has a tritium insert. It has a Wilson Combat single round extension tube that brings total capacity to 5+1.

The USSS stands for United States Secret Service. Apparently a number of these were sold off a while back as surplus. It originally came with a SPEEDFEED I (model 0100) Stock set which includes “two magazine tubes(storing a total of four rounds) molded into the stock. Each magazine tube (holding two shells) exits just behind the pistol grip, one on each side of the stock.” (from their website: http://www.speedfeedinc.com/productsmain.html) The utilitarian aspect of the SPEEDFEED stock cannot be denied, but I wanted a more rustic look. I found a mix matched set of Walnut stocks for the 870 (the rear is much less used, unfortunately, I’d rather it match the look of the front).
