Convertible .50 Beowulf FAL

DSC00381

Robert Harper sent The Firearm Blog photos of a convertible FAL with a 5.56mm magazine adaptor and a user-removable barrel. Included in the images are different length gas pistons and springs, presumably for the different length barrel and handguard assemblies. One of the barrels is marked “.50 BEO”. It reportedly shoots 5.56mm, 7.62mm, and .50 Beowulf.

    FAL in .50 Beowulf?
    Cool, we want more! 🙂
A good candidate for the new 45 Raptor as well…

    • Anonymoose

I was just about to say that…

Probably a “Meeper” conversion. Nice. I used to have a rifle done by Vern Smith. It was a beauty.

To clarify, “Meeper” was Vern Smith’s handle on the FAL Files. Vern is a master gunsmith out of Utah who did this conversion, and many others via the Files.

It was some beautiful, precision machining.

5.56 NATO, 5.45×39, 7.62×39, .45 ACP, and many others were all options, along with magazine adapters.

Can you guys of TFB contact Mr Smith to find out more?
          It’s pretty interesting stuff. 😉
          Thanks!

Sorry about that, I’ve been doing so muc cince I’ve got out that I forget a thing or two. When I take it to the range I’ll do a write up for you with some pictures and vids. Thanks for showing this!

            can’t wait!

    • Robert Harper

Yes it is, it had a 7.62×25 Tok kit with it, if you go to Google pictures and type in Meeper Fal and you’ll see one with four barrels, that’s the exact same gun I have, except the first owner kept the Tok kit! 🙁

The one who did this has obviously been blessed by the machine spirits. Or just a mad engineer. Either way I hope to see more.

I want this now….. metric/inch?, and damn the RFB for using my FAL mags too!

    • Robert Harper

LOL, It’s a meteric Gear Logo Imbel receiver. It shoots very well and it makes the .50 Beuwulf feel like shooting a .308! 🙂
