Rest in Peace Barry

I got word earlier today that Barry of Iraqveteran8888, one of the best gun-related YouTube channels out there has passed away. I always enjoyed watching videos where he taught young ones like me about things like the lost art of cut shotgun shells, or when he recited a poem about his time working for RPB building select fire M10 submachine guns.

Rest in peace Barry, and my best wishes go out to his friends and family.

Good Lord. I hoped it was a joke in poor taste. A good man taken far too soon.
    Condolences to all.

    • No way we would ever do something like that!

Sadly TFB is a way too classy establishment and it ain’t April the 1st.

My condolences, he taught us all some cool things(cut shells for instance).

Anybody know the cause of death? Very sad news…. loved watching him on the tube.

  • Bye Mr. Barry

Well damn that sucks. I always enjoyed Barry’s videos and his low soothing voice and his quirky laugh. Thanks for the memories.

    • Missing Barry

… not to mention a kick ass beard, a patriot, and a fellow who will be impossible to replace. Thank you Barry.

Thanks for the memories indeed. I was visiting iraqveteran8888 hoping to see him return but it just didn’t happen…

I really feel bad for him…. his life seemed to just spiral the last few months.

      Guy was a firearms sage. Like an uncle you never had. My favorite comment was when he made an off hand about .22 lethality (and I’m paraphrasing);

“Basically, if you’ve got a hole in you, that you weren’t born with, you’re probably going to die from it”.

Excellent, a new gun related Utube channel to enjoy. RIP Barry.

He looked like he had many years left in him

  • A real loss. Enjoyed his videos. Absolutely binge watching worthy.

No! I’ve been watching Eric’s channel since its earliest, pre-Barry days, and that bearded man made 1000x more entertaining. I loved most of allt heir torture test videos. I truly believe overall quality of the channel has gone down since Barry’s departure, and now that he’s gone….well it just sucks. I heard some things like the root of all his problems with the law, drinking, etc, was 1 woman. I hope she understands what she has done to an entire internet community today

That’s a damn shame. Always enjoyed him in the videos.

Wow, a shocker indeed. I thoroughly enjoy Barry’s lectures on guns in YouTube. His passing will be a major loss for the YouTube gun community.

    Sad to hear that 🙁

Rest in peace, bearded man. I enjoyed your videos and your dry humor!

I miss Barry he was kind hearted, polite, hard-working,disciplined,and deeply indoctrinated as good of a person as you can find I enjoyed his videos ALWAYS. Rest in paradise you have earned it.

I went into their store, Moss pawn and gun….. with a friend a few months back. I was very nice and courteous the whole time. I spoke with him briefly and and mentioned how much i loved their show, And to my shock he was very rude and disrespectful. Might i add that i am a solid person and there was absolutely no excuse for his behavior. I never watched the damn show again….always kinda made me mad. Although i would not wish death on anyone. I shed no tears knowing first hand that he was not a nice guy. 🙁

Glad to know you’ve never had a single lousy, up-on-the-wrong-side-of-the-bed day in your life where you were a jerk to somebody. I know I have had more than one. Don’t write off a person’s whole life based on a single encounter.

My heartfelt condolences go out to Barry’s family and friends. He was always a quiet, unassuming kind of person whose under-stated demeanor belied an enormous fund of firearms knowledge that will be very hard to replace. Barry was a great example of a master of his craft — dedicated to hard truths and facts, and not to personal aggrandizement or ego boosting.

He was also a proponent of the Mosin-Nagant rifle, and the M-N community here will keenly feel his passing.

The MAC-10 poem!!! That’s one of the only videos I’ve seen of this guy, and I’ll always remember him for it.

  • Aaron

My condolences to his family. I always enjoyed watching him in his videos. He seemed like a good guy and really helped spread important knowledge and understanding about firearms.

Rest in peace Barry. You will be missed, but not forgotten!

This really saddens me, i love his youtube channel, just found out about his show, now this.

My wife and I have met him in person several times at Moss Pawn. He was one of the few salesmen my wife is comfortable asking to see a gun behind the counter or talking to. Most salesmen intimidate her as she’s still new to firearms. It’s a shame Barry passed away. He was a good guy and very approachable. I enjoyed the YouTube channel. Thanks for the conversations and good memories Barry!
