TAC-CON 3MR Media Event, Pre-trip

TacCon-3MR-Trigger

So today I am headed down to beautiful Phoenix, AZ to take part in a two day media event around the 3MR trigger system.  The trip will include a tour of the manufacturing facility as well as two days of range time shooting the trigger system both in a stattic target shooting mode for one day, and will conclude with a day of tactical drills.  Shooting days will be at the Ben Avery Shooting Facility just south of Anthem, AZ.

I know there are still a lot of people out there on the fence, and not sure about the trigger system.  I also know there are still a lot of questions about the system that they would like answered before spending the money for one.  So please feel free to leave questions in the comment section below, and I will do my best to answer them while I am there.  I will also be posting a daily recap, how the “learning curve” feels and photos from the facility and range time.

Stay tuned for more information!

I know a guy who just bought one of these, installed it on his DMPS… Wasn’t what he was expecting… I’d be interesting to get a real write-up, not the crappy youtube reviews of everyone knowing how to get the dang thing to work already.

    • Sam will sure let you know how it works and as he said the learning curve.

I’d also like to know the reset distances between the 3MR and the Gisele triggers, if they can measure that with a caliper. Going from a Mil-spec trigger to the 3MR, the pull is crisp and short but I would be interested in some hard numbers if possible as well.

    • That is the plan.

    Hey Sam,

I bought 2 Tac-Cons for myself and a friend. We have one currently installed on a Mega Arms forged lower, been experimenting with different uppers. Here is a video using a Tactical Solutions.22LR Upper: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nbRlNP4OtkU

I am working on putting together a 9mm upper build for the same lower. Basically the trigger is just effing amazing for low-recoil rounds like 22LR to throw lead down range. Its much harder to control on rifle rounds (obviously).

Questions: Does Tac-Con plan on making any other versions, like for AR-10s? Will it work with a 22 drop in bolt conversion? Tell them thanks for an amazing product that I love 🙂

I’m surprised that works. The initial information I read a few months back stated that the 3MR trigger required a full-auto type bolt carrier, because the BCG trips a lever that helps the trigger reset. If that’s true, then I would expect it to have no effect with a 22lr.

Since you have one personally, can you confirm that it is tripped by the BCG? Have you noticed a difference in how the trigger feels with 22lr vs centerfire? Maybe the original description was inaccurate or I misunderstood.

Also, if Sam Cadle reads this, I’d like to see a comparison to the Geissele S3G trigger, which is explicitly designed for speed shooting.
From Geissele: “The S3G trigger has a very short, light pull and reset. We do not recommend it for duty use, bench rest, accuracy work or shooting small groups. It is designed for close course competition use where rapid target engagement with quick follow up shots are required.”

        Hey Cymond,

Hopefully you’ll see this. I looked at my friends upper today, its a dedicated .22LR upper with no gas block and a moving bolt sub-assembly. So, its different from the drop-in conversion kits which lose some power due to gas losses in the tube.

I’ll try to take out the dedicated upper next week and get some measurements, and also see if I can borrow one of the drop in kits to see if that works with the 3MR.

Something to note is that the gun was super finicky about ammo. Would NOT shoot Remington Golden Bullets at all, even on normal semi mode. FTF + FTE = 2/3 rounds would get rejected. We switched to Federal Premium JHP and thats what you see on the video.

    • I have seen one work on an AR10 actually.

I suppose as a result of classical conditioning, I cringe a little every time I hear the word “media” associated with firearms or firearms technology.

Do you know the compatibility with HK rifles? I am interested in popping in one of those bad boys into my MR556
