Hoppe’s Synthetic Blend Gun Oil

Hoppe’s recently announced a new gun oil called the “Synthetic Blend Lubricating Gun Oil.”  Hoppe’s claims the new oil delivers “highly effective lubrication” and offers “long-lasting protection of all firearms, fishing reels and other mechanisms.”

Hoppe’s states the new oil uses a blend of liquid molybdenum, polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) and other substances in this biodegradable, non-flammable product.  The company also states the product retains the well-known Hoppe’s No. 9 scent.

This is the second “synthetic blend” product that Hoppe’s has introduced this year.  The No.9 synthetic blend bore cleaner was previously reported here.

It’s aphrodisiacal as well, or so I’m told.

      I would buy Hoppe’s cologne

Just like Ballistol it is probably nothing but overpriced mineral oil. I use Mobil 1 to oil my guns and plane jane silicon oil on a clean rag to protect the finish . Gunshops make more money on the nonsense around guns and ammo that you really do not need, than on the actual guns themselves.

Perhaps, but will a dab of Mobil 1 get you a date with a hot gunny? 😉

I too have been eyeballing my almost-empty jugs of synthetic 5w-30 and wonder if I just should spend $27 on a 5 quart jug and have a lifetime supply of lube.

Sorry but biodegradable and PTFE do not go hand in hand; PTFE is any but biodegradable.

PTFE goes by another name Teflon and I though the cool cats at rem-oil used that stuff.
