Magpul 1911 Grip Panels

Last May TFB reported the Magpul 1911 grips were coming, and thought they are on the market now, I’d yet to handle them. So I took the time to check them out at SHOT Show.

I like the look of them, though not in love with the tiny Magpul logos as texture, but function is more important. The deep cut for the thumb safety is of special importance to me with my shorter fingers. As the top photo illustrates, these accommodate well in that area.

The price of the Magpul MOE Grip Panels has dropped five dollars to $19.95 MSRP, since last I checked. At that price I consider these a great low cost option for an improved grip.

everybody and their uncle with 1911 grips.

but at 20 bucks, not a bad way to change the look of your gun

If these had been around wen I had my 1911, I probably would have bought a set. I seriously considered using a Dremel to add a thumb groove to my Ergo grips.

On an unrelated note, I believe the groove is to help you hit the magazine release, not the thumb safety.

Red Barn Armory has had them in stock the past month. I bought my dad a set for Christmas.

these look like they’d be good for a Ruger 22/45 Lite too :3

I have a set of these on my Springfield MC Operator and I am very impressed with them! I have medium sized hands and the thinner profile along with the thumb scoop greatly helps with releasing the magazine. I highly recommend these at the price point they are offered!

I just got a set of these in the mail today. I really like them a lot. At the widest point they don’t appear to be any thinner than my Pachmayr grips but they form more of a diamond shape rather than the more traditional oval so the overall grip circumference is reduced and they feel much thinner. They have a good bit of grip without being overly aggressive and just feel very nice to me. I know some lefties were concerned about the large recess to make reaching the mag release easier but when I held the pistol in my left hand it was barely perceivable, they are also cut out for ambi-safeties. Hopefully magpul will release other colors, at least OD and tan.
