Magpul just announced their new PMAG magazines for all the various AK pattern rifles chambered in 7.62×39 will finally be available. Announced earlier this year, they’ll be shipping out during the 2014 SHOT Show and should be available from retailers soon thereafter. The 30-round polymer magazines are made in the USA and feature a removable floorplate, constant curve geometry, and a reliable/low-friction follower. They’ll retail at $13.95.

I don’t think they’ll sell very well. $13.95 for an American built AK magazine? Nope, No one’s interested. Move along people, nothing to see here.

      Nice try.

    • LoneSurvivorWasMoving

You’re right, better ship em’ all to me for proper disposal

i think they will probably eat up a good chunk of the market share that belongs to commercial ak magazines but at the same time i won’t be bothering with them myself while there are still the reinforced polymer surplus magazines available.

Um– I don’t think so honestly.

        It’s called irony, Phil.

What, No love for 5.45? No US 5.56 AK mags?
And will it come in Plum?

    • Patrick Mingle

In due time I’m sure. Not so sure on plum but then again it wouldn’t be difficult for them

    • saiga556

Yeah come on with the .223 AK mags.

    • Tim U

They have to start with the largest market and see how it does, than hit smaller markets if viable. I don’t remember where I saw it, but I read somewhere that Magpul was looking at fielding a 5.45 one as well. No word on 5.56, and IMO they shouldn’t hit the 5.56 AK market because it’s virtually nonexistent. This is coming from someone who owns an SLR-106.

I agree guys, come on. Please give us a 5.56 AK mag compatible with Saiga, Bulgarian SLR, Romanian SAR/WASR 3 and Galil rifles. They have almost identical mag dimensions.

If I don’t hear the words metal reinforced I’ll stick with magazines that wont break off at catch…

If I was a Mini-14 owner, the sound of my gnashing teeth would be audible in Colorado. And Wyoming. And Texas.

  • Bobby Lee

Believe in Magpul. These guys know what they are doing. People didn’t believe in the AR PMAG either. Look at where we are now.

  • Fjordforder

It`s about time they ship! Can`t wait to give them a try!

  • PD

Make a Mini 14 mag and I’ll be interested.

    • erwos

Make a Mini-14 that takes AR-15 mags, and maybe that platform will regain some relevance.

  • Lance

No 5.45 I call that unfair.

  • Juice

Yes, but can you do push-ups with it?

  • gunslinger

what about a reliable mag to replace an SKS box mag?

  • James

I’m sure 5.45 and 5.56 are already in the works. The demand for them (especially in 5.45) is just too great. I’ve heard that version 2 of the AK PMAG is in fact metal reinforced and will be released at a later date. After they sell a bajillion of the first run AK PMAGS the others will most certainly come.

  • CavScout

I live in Minnesota, so if these don’t have any steel reinforcing for the locking tabs, I’ll have to pass until I can get one and test it out hard in the cold. They just get too brittle in the -30 temps and just break off. =/

When is the “little Bulgarian” flavor coming?
