Hey I’m lucky I get my holidays 12 hours before the guys on the east coast of the USA. I have already eaten my turkey in the afternoon and second hand as my wife call leftovers for supper. So full I can hardly get around.

No Thanksgivukkah for us Hebrew’s? 🙁

    • DiverEngrSL17K

      Hi, Joe :

Although Thanksgiving is a uniquely American historical tradition, it is still a time for remembrance and gratitude for life as we know it, for better or for worse. In that spirit, best wishes and goodwill extend to everyone, irrespective of race, creed, religion, ethnicity, nationality, etc.

So best wishes still go out to you and your family, regardless.

I meant it in good humor. I know Phil meant it as holiday greeting to everyone. It’s just that the next Thanksgivukkah will not occur until the year 79811.

        • Uh—we don’t need to remember that date!

        • DiverEngrSL17K

So thus be it. The spirit of humanity will never die, no matter what. See you on the other side, and we’ll still celebrate A.D. 79811 together, okay?

    • Certainly Joe this goes out to everyone!

  • Thanks Phil for posting this. Happy Thankgiving to all our readers and their families. Stay safe out there everyone.

  • Anonymoose

Thanks! Happy Thanksgiving to you too!

And also a Happy Black Friday, suppose too.

    • I’m hiding Friday!

You said it, Phil. Remember that ad from several years ago for one of the big chain stores ( I think it was Wal-Mart, although I might be wrong ) where the “mob” of anxious citizens is chanting in frenzied unison ( with ever-growing intensity ) outside the locked doors just before Black Friday opening time? The service staff inside are having a last-minute debate as to who should have the dubious privilege of opening the doors. Candidates from previous years’ openings, still in body casts, on crutches and the like are saying that they’ve had their turn, and that someone else needs to take a shot at it. A rookie employee innocently walks up and asks what’s going on. All eyes relentlessly fasten upon him as that ideal next candidate, and he suddenly finds a good reason to loosen his collar and swallow hard — hilarious, absolutely hilarious.

On another note, in any tough situation, you’ve got to admit it’s often the poor FNG who gets the short end of the stick ( except where he or she is lucky enough to have truly responsible and conscientious mentors who would risk everything to ensure that FNG’s survival and teach him or her the necessary skills for ensured continuity ).
