DIY Guns Captured After The Zamboanga Seige

Compact 40mm Grenade Pistol

A number of DIY guns were recovered by the Philippines army after the the rebel siege of the southern city of Zamboanga. They include 40mm grenade pistols, a gun vaguely patterned after an M4 and a Mac-10 clone.

While only bearing on a slight resemblance to the real thing, this does appear to have an AR-15-style buffer tube.

    Isn’t that a MAC-10 and not a mini uzi?

    • Jilu Khan Spandiary

      It is, your right.

      • Martin Grønsdal

        you are, or you’re

        • Jilu Khan Spandiary

          Whats your point.
Your correcting on a blog about guns.
          You have a good sir.

          • Benedict Tan

Perhaps it is somewhat pedantic to make a fuss over grammar, that someone offered a correction to you here as opposed to anywhere else is not logically relevant.

Mr. Gronsdal did not seem to be malicious in his comment. If only we all took every opportunity given to better ourselves.

            Peace friend.

          • Martin Grønsdal

Amen to the last sentences in YOUR comment, Mr. Tan

          • Martin Grønsdal

            You are. Not “your”.

YOU ARE cleaning YOUR rifle. Or; YOU’RE cleaning YOUR rifle.

          • Jilu Khan Spandiary

            I has yours points.
Me thinks me got it know. lol
Start talking about the subject at hand, and not taking time out of your hands to make yourself look superior. Buttface. Oh, wait. Is it Your a buttface or you are a buttface. LOLLOL

          • Martin Grønsdal

I think it is up to me how I choose to spend my time, don’t you?
you tell me if it should be ‘your’or ‘you are’.

          • Jilu Khan Spandiary

          • Martin Grønsdal

Albeit somehow tasteless, this video has a point. One could only wish your previous comment had a meaning.

          • Jilu Khan Spandiary

Martin, I apologize for being rude.
And, I understand your passion for grammar.
But, can we please get back to the topic of firearms.

          • Martin Grønsdal

Sure. What irritates me is the fact that pro-2 amendment folks very often display much lower academic kills than their disarm-the-victim counterparts….

    • Steve (TFB Editor)

      So it is!

    • Patrick Mingle

      technically its neither lol

  • Stanislao

    Pistolized… I like that word.

    • Steve (TFB Editor)

heh, I plan on using that word in a blog post on TFB as soon as I come across another “pistolized” gun to write about.

      • wetcorps

Write something on the Obrez 🙂

        • Zugunder

That’s not a weapon, you know? Just a word.

          • wetcorps

Well from my knowing it’s sort of a slang for sawn off bolt action rifles, particularly Mosin Nagants. But yeah, I’m aware it just means “cut”.

          • RocketScientist

Its a word… that refers to a type of weapon. Just like “rifle” is a word describing a gun with a rifled barrel, and “sawed-off” is a word describing a gun (typically shotgun) whose barrel has been sawed-off. Similarly, Obrez (cut) refers to a gun (typically M91/30 or similar) that has been “cut” down to be concealable. I am the king of being pedantic, but not when you don’t even make sense any more. In case you hadn’t noticed, every word used to describe every weapons ever is “just a word, not a weapon”. They’re just written/spoken symbols used as an abstract representation of physical real-world objects. They are not the objects themselves. That’s how language works.

          • Zugunder

Sorry, i’m misspoke (mostly because my english isn’t good enough). He (the guy to whom i responded) asked for “Write something on the Obrez” like it’s some certain gun (maybe it’s my misunderstanding).
P.S. typically M91/30? When i hear “obrez” i usually imagine cuted down two barrel shotgun. I don’t know why 🙂

          • RocketScientist

Ahhh, i see. Maybe this is not the case elsewhere, but in american gun circles, the term “obrez” is pretty much only ever used to refer to a Mosin-Nagant M91/30 or similar russian rifle that has had its barrel and stock cut down to be about the size of a pistol. They were used by partisans/criminals/revolutionaries when pistols were difficult to come by. If you google “obrez” virtually all the results are on this topic (though I’m not sure if thats true if googled in another country). Sorry for my harsh tone above, I though you were being the worst grammar pedant ever.

          • Zugunder

No problem. I didn’t know about this detail of American gun circles. In Russia “obrez” stands for any cuted gun, not only bolt-actions. I know games is not trustworthy sourse about anything, but in almost any Russian localisations “Obrez” is sawed-off shotgun. English localisations of S.T.A.L.K.E.R, for example, have sawed-off shotgun, but in Russian version it’s “Обрез” (Obrez).

          • Петрович

Games, huh? Use english-russian google translate for “sawed-off shotgun” and you would get “обрез”.

    • worowski

Just curious… Are there any .50 BMG pistols? Or pistolized rifles?

  • Gunhead

I get the feeling there’s a whole lot of 40mm in that area.

  • SP mclaughlin

Far Cry 2, eat your heart out.

  • orly?

Alot of electrical tape, yet no duct tape.

I expected more from my ancestral family homeland.

Duct tape should be a staple of any society, especially the Philippines.

This article is inaccurate, is not grenade launcher, just 40mm pistol. I fail to see big deal with average caliber pistol for RUSSIAN MAN.
