Prvi Partizan Ammo for the M1 Garand

30-06 Prvi Partizan

Prvi Partizan is now loading a .30-06 round for the M1 Garand.  The new load uses a 150 grain FMJ bullet and is rated at 2749 fps.  If my notes are correct, this closely duplicates the M2 load using 150 grain bullet at 2740 fps.

The vast majority of .30-06 ammo is manufactured with the bolt-action rifle in mind.  Garand shooters run the risk of damage to the rifle when shooting commercial ammunition.

GarandGear.com tested a significant number of commercial .30-06 loads in a M1 Garand and measured the peak pressure and total impulse generated by each.  The results showed a range of pressures and impulses, many of which are considered above the safe operating range of the Garand.

The new Prvi Partizan load gives Garand shooters another safe ammunition choice.

PPU has been making Garand loads for years. You’ll see cans of the stuff on aimsurplus every now and again.

Unfortunately Obama banned any new M-1s again soo We got new ammo just no new rifles for them DARN!!!!

PS I hope they make brass case 5.45mm ammo soon that is reloadable.

Exactly what are you talking about?

      • Sable

He is referencing the recent re-importation ban that Emperor O signed that prohibits the importation of Garands we exported to South Korea as military aid 40+ years ago. I was hoping to get my hands on one of them when I first learned about the possibility but it is highly unlikely know. Still, good on Prvi Partizan, the more ammo the better.

The M1 garand is the top choice for our nation’s violent thugs and gang bangers, due to its size, weight, and satisfying sound when it ejects a clip.

Very good ammunition, I acquired some from Ammunition To Go and it works very well in my M1 rifle.

Prvi Partizan ammunition is of excellent quality, yet reasonably priced. I have always had very good results with PPU ammo, and the consistency is outstanding. I am glad that they have seen fit to expand their line-up over time to include more calibers and accommodate a wider range of firearms.

ive always have good luck with privi especially finding harder to get ammo like 8x56r or 6.5×52

One thing to also take into account was that the Garand was originally designed for a less powerful round, the .276 Pedersen.

    • Sable

And it held 10 of them. Not that the 276 was that much weaker, I would have taken the trade off…

    • Georgiaboy61

Esh325 – close but no cigar. The Garand was considered in .276, but then Army Chief of Staff General Douglas MacArthur ordered that R&D and production on the new rifle be devoted to chambering it in .30 caliber, hence the 30-06. John C. Garand’s original design was not in .276 but in .30 cal. There’s a few .276 caliber prototypes of the M1 in museums, but that’s about it.

I picked up an M2 can of this ammo (500 rounds) at a gun show last fall. I’ve run some of it through my rifles without any problems. I’m hoping to find it for at least as good a price in the future.
