Single Shot .22LR Pen Guns

Here’s something out of James Bond’s arsenal, ok maybe Sean Connery’s Bond. Shadow Ops Weaponry is producing these cool little .22lr single shot pen guns. You’d better have a James Bond kind of budget for one however, they currently go for $495. They’re a limited run from Shadow Ops at only 500 made a year. They’re constructed of stainless steel, aluminum and brass, oh yeah they’ll require a $5 tax stamp from the ATF and will need to be transferred to a class 3 dealer as well.

I remember seeing a bunch of old ones at guns shows back in the day… not so much any more. These are the kind of thing “AOW” was drafted for. My question would be, do they require a CCW in some jurisdictions? I would imagine so.

Back in the day, American Derringer made one called the “Stinger” that folded into the shape of a pencil, which kept it out of AOW territory. I believe that AD is out of business, but it’s hard to tell. Their website is still up, but it looks like it hasn’t been updated in a decade.

They should make it in .17WSM.

A local dealer around here has a pen gun with a matching permanent marker suppressor that was done up special for them.

They should make a .308 version out of those giant novelty pens and pencils.

A friend shot him self with one. Perhaps the funniest story I’ve ever heard.

From 1966 – 1988 my father was a jet pilot in the US Navy (mostly A-3 and EA-6B). In his little issued survival kit was a very plain (un-rifled) “pen gun” and a few 22 tracer rounds. I wonder why I have never seen any of these around, nor even discussed?

Novelties, just novelties. Gosh, why would anyone need one of those? 🙄
