Two years ago, ATI introduced the Scorpion recoil pads that were said to significantly reduce felt recoil by the use of a new energy absorbing polymer. The material had been developed to absorb sound waves, and ATI claimed it also was very good at absorbing the energy generated by a gun’s recoil as well.
In 2013, the company introduced the X2 version of the recoil pads that are supposed to reduce the energy transfer to a shooter’s shoulder even more. The new pads are thicker, which should help with recoil, but will also slightly alter the length of pull. For a gun with an adjustable stock, this should not be a problem. Fixed stock shooters will want to check to make sure the pad makes sense for them.
The pads retail for $24.99. They are made in the USA and carry a limited lifetime warranty.
