Magpul PMAGs to be made outside of Colorado

Magpul have announced that within 30 days PMAGs will be made outside of Colorado due to recently passed legislation. They said on their Facebook page …

We have said all along that based on the legal problems and uncertainties in the bill, as well as general principle, we will have no choice but to leave if the Governor signs this into law. We will start our transition out of the state almost immediately, and we will prioritize moving magazine manufacturing operations first. We expect the first PMAGs to be made outside CO within 30 days of the signing, with the rest to follow in phases. We will likely become a multi-state operation as a result of this move, and not all locations have been selected. We have made some initial contacts and evaluated a list of new potential locations for additional manufacturing and the new company headquarters, and we will begin talks with various state representatives in earnest if the Governor indeed signs this legislation. Although we are agile for a company of our size, it is still a significant footprint, and we will perform this move in a manner that is best for the company and our employees.

It is disappointing to us that money and a social agenda from outside the state have apparently penetrated the American West to control our legislature and Governor, but we feel confident that Colorado residents can still take the state back through recalls, ballot initiatives, and the 2014 election to undo these wrongs against responsible Citizens.

Various groups are trying to lure them to their state.

Hat Tip: SayUncle for the link. He suggests moving to TN (but he might be a little biased). Thanks also to Jay.

    Bravo, Magpul.

  • saneskeptic

Waiting for tomorrow’s headline: Hickenlooper fires 200 Colorado Magpul employees…

  • B.

Oklahoma legislators have contacted Magpul and offered incentives to move to Oklahoma. It’s gotten some local attention here trying to lure the company to our state.

  • old one

Good for you. I am behind your move 100 percent

  • Skeptic

The Libs see Colorado as a pristine perfection and don’t want nobody, especially Murderous Hunters and people who actually GO into the WOODS destroying the ambiance with their human ugliness, to disturb their illusions. Geoff Who is disgusted.

    • Anonymoose

No, they’re just scared for their gated communities, same as many Cons.

  • EzGoingKev

I just wish I lived in a state that let me legally own PMAGS……

    • Frosty_The_White_Man

Aye. I’m fleeing New York ASAP.

    • Vote with your feet. Move.

      • Anonymoose

Or just protest and start petitions until the next election.

  • AlabamaRepub

Alabama would love to have you

  • Great! I need to get a few more when the run on mags slows down. Show the socialists you don’t need to go Galt, you can just go elsewhere! Now is time to start the Boycott of Colorado The citizens of Colorado put these people in power, now they should have to pay the price for giving up their freedom. I feel sorry for those that have had this forced upon them, maybe next election this can be corrected.

  • gunslinger

are they moving just the pmag? or are they completly removing magpul from CO?

    • bozo connors

Article states – prioritizing moving magazine manufacturing first – so I’d assume everything eventually.

  • Marco

Truly a gutsy move. Magpul IS American Industry!!!

  • FarmBoy

Move to Utah, we would love to have you!

  • Anonymoose

I hope they come to Ohio. We like guns and we need the jobs!

    • No manufacturing company in their right mind moves to a Union State on purpose. TX, OK, NV, WY, FL or AZ are the most likely.

      • WildDogS

Or VA? Right to work state + lots of federal contractors.

      • Brad

Really hoping they jump the border and come over to Arizona.

      • Anonymoose

Yeah, because Colt, Remington, Noveske, Ithaca, Ares, Hi-Point (lol), and pretty much every foreign gun company besides Norinco (because the CPC has outlawed all other “organized labor” groups) don’t use union labor…

  • Martin M

Colorado has become overrun with Californians, hence the terrible legislation.

    • Redfoot

I wholeheartedly agree. When I was stationed there from 2002-2006, when you got cut-off on the freeway 99% of the time it was a CA plate. Coloradans were trying to resist the influx of shitty Californians, but with Silicon Valley dissolving and tech moving to CO, it was inevitable. However, do not forget that Boulder has always been a Socialist enclave. However, now they have the numbers. I now live in Northern CA (again, a station change), but I will tell you, if given the chance, the north would secede from the south. /End rant.

  • bozo connors

Awesome. So… move… then open like… 10 more factories in various gun friendly states!!! Make more stuff!!!

  • Aaron

Truly a great American company that puts principle well above profit. They may have some headaches in the short run, but their fan base is sure to sky rocket in the long run. God speed to these true patriots!

    • Anonymoose

You do realize this is about both profit and principle, right? The dipsticks in Denver said they can’t make standard-cap Pmags in CO anymore and that’s their top-selling product.

      • Wrong the bill allows them to continue the manufacture of standard capacity mags. They just wouldn’t be allowed to sell them in Colorado. So no in fact the move is strictly on principle. They can’t sell to Colorado whether they are made here or not so loss of Colorado sales is irrelevant.

  • DocWho1626

Just to show you how stupid the politicians in Denver are (they come from CA & NY), when Magpul told them that they would have to move, their reply: “They are bluffing, they won’t move, cost them too much”. Right! I guess the stupid politicos forgot that several states have offered free land, covered moving expenses and tax incentives. NOW, if every sportsman, fisherman and hunter, declines to buy a license in Colorado, watch their entire conservation system go to hell….. serve them right.

  • Cuban Pete

A patriotic corporation that stands by its values and its customers. Well done MAGPUL!!
p.s. Boycott all sales to the law enforcement agencies of Colorado, NY, California, Massachussets, New Jersey, Hawaii, Illinois, and Maryland!!!
