Hoppe’s New No. 9 Synthetic Blend Bore Cleaner

The Hoppe’s No. 9 scent is one of my favorite, right up there with the smell of steak on the grill and the smell of new leather, but the formula is old, very old, and there is no shortage of modern bore cleaning solutions on the market. Hoppe’s have cleverly formulated a new modern synthetic bore cleaner with the same scent as the classic Hoppe’s No. 9. From the press release …

Hoppe’s, the industry leader in gun care cleaning products and accessories since 1903, has introduced a new cleaning solution for high-performance, modern firearms. The new Hoppe’s No. 9 Synthetic Blend has the same recognizable scent and cleaning power as the traditional No. 9 formula, but is a non-flammable and biodegradable bore cleaner.

Hoppe’s No. 9 Synthetic Blend builds on the tradition established by Frank Hoppe more than 110 years ago when he developed Hoppe’s No. 9. Hoppe concocted the unique formula to combat the corrosive qualities of smokeless gun powder, which at the time was being sought after by the firearms industry as a replacement for black powder. While the challenge was different at the turn of the 20th Century, the commitment to innovation at Hoppe’s remains the same. Designed for today’s modern firearms and ammunition, Hoppe’s No. 9 Synthetic Blend is a powerful bore cleaning solution.

The new Hoppe’s No. 9 Synthetic Blend maintains the standard set by the original formula while addressing the demands of the modern firearm. The new synthetic blend deeply penetrates the bore for superior removal of carbon, lead and copper fouling. In addition, the bore cleaner is safe on materials used on today’s firearms, including anodized aluminum, titanium, steel, chrome, nickel, plastic, polycarbonate, and rubber. By utilizing the cleaning power of Hoppe’s No. 9 Synthetic Blend with a Hoppe’s Boresnake, gun owners can drastically reduce the amount of time spent cleaning firearms and enjoy more time behind the trigger.

Made in the USA, the new Hoppe’s No. 9 Synthetic Blend is available in sizes ranging from 2 oz. to 1 gallon with MSRPs from $4.95 – $99.95.

Personally, I love the smell. The better half can’t stand it and makes me clean my guns outside. Forget the new minty Amphibian Lube. I’ll be first in line!

  • Sad…I LOVE that Hoppes smell..
that and CLP reminds me of the USMC days

  • I love the smell just because it reminds me of guns . Brings me right back to when I first started shooting because it was the first thing I ever cleaned with! I started with Hoppe’s and CLP and both of those things bring me right back!

In other words modern guns made of cling wrap and recycled Styrofoam can’t handle the manly power of Hoppes No 9 so they had to come up with something that won’t damage the delicate “hi-performance modern” bullet launchers.

Oh stop talking such rubbish, plastics have completely different chemical properties from wood and the company has adapted its formular to meet the changing make up of guns, childish comments like yours are pointless.

Or he could be being sarcastic. Hard to portray over the internet

Got to love Hoppies. That and Break Cleaner are the best!!!

I’ve always been told to NEVER use a copper solvent on a nickel plated firearm, because any breaks in the finish will reveal the copper base plating and allow corrosion of the plating from underneath. How then, can Hoppes advertise their formula as a copper solvent and also be safe on nickel finishes?

  • Wait, wait, wait. Hoppe’s #9 is an old formula, new synthetic stuff so much better, etc, etc… Yeah, and the Bible is just an old book of fairy tales and fiction, needs to be updated and changed to make it fit the times,…
