Rock Island Armory Releases Two New 10MM 1911’s

11 - 10mm Tactical Spec Sheet copy

Rock Island Armory introduced several new guns at SHOT. Two caught my attention because of the number of readers expressing interest in a 1911 in 10mm. I must say I also have an interest in this caliber especially in a 1911.

The first 10mm is the Tactical II pictured above. The new Tactical has an orange fiber optic front sight as well as an extended magwell. Lastly it comes standard with VZ grips in gray/black.

Next we have the 2011 Tactical with the full-length dust cover with rail. Additionally a fiber optic front sight is standard as is the new extended magwell. VZ grips are also included as part of the package.

Magazine capacity for both pistols is 8+1 of powerful 10mm. Both of these new 1911’s will be released the second quarter of 2013. Price has yet to be announced.

I’ve always been crazy about full length dust covered 1911s. And 10mm auto. I think I know what to replace my dad’s old 1911 with.

      Sounds like a match!

Looks like they managed to get it in under the IDPA weight limit. Rock Island has it listed as just under 40 ounces. My .45ACP 1911 came pretty close, with a G.I. guide rod, and without a full-length picatinny dustcover.

Are these made in the Philippines?

      Yes they are—-

ISO 9001 certified. RIA sure has come a long way.

They’ve come a very long ways since the single GI model they had to offer.

that was their first USA offering, but they were already a giant arms manufacturing conglomerate in Asia/eastern europe/pacific rim.

Top one looks almost perfect, just need to ditch the fiber optic sight for a tritium bead, get rid of the silly mag well, and ditch the VZs for something a bit less aggressive.

A tritium bead from Novak will fit without any mods. Rock Island uses Novak slide cuts.

    awww yisssss
RIA sure knows how to brighten my day :D

They do make some great 1911’s at a heck of a good price for all you get!

Sorta wish 10mm was more popular, but I know where my first 1911 will be! Gooah, Rock Island Armory!

    • totenglocke

Seeing how cheap RIA 1911’s are, these might make it more popular.

  • FourString

Hooooooollll—I just got a massive boner!

The 2011 tactical 10mm will be mine. MINE.

  • Mark Medina

Glock 20 would be my choice in 10mm. Yet did once get to shoot a Colt Delta Elite 10mm back in the day. Not bad, not bad at all.

Is the Glock 20 as wide as double stack nines like a Beretta/Taurus 92?

  • Joseph B Campbell

    10mm = .393″ smaller than a 40. Go for gusto by the .45 or even .50!

    • Suburban

10mm uses the same bullets as .40S&W

    • Marc

Same bullets as .40 (shortned 10 mm) and more energy at 100 yards than .45 at the muzzle.

  • Lance

Want one Steve buy all of us one and we give you a review!!! LOL I do want one.

Too bad the owners of this company are the biggest cocaine dealers in the Philippines.
