Safariland Holsters for Handguns with Optics

The rise in popularity of optics, such as the Trijicon RMR, has holster makers looking at ways of making scabbards for carrying them.  Safariland has been working on new holsters for the military and for law enforcement.

At Media Day, Safariland had this drop leg holster on display that was made for an undisclosed military unit.  As you can see from the bump out in front, the holster was clearly made for an optic equipped handgun.  More versions of this style holster should be rolling out soon.

I prefer the BladeTech optic ready WRS holsters, it covers the optic a lot more than this does.

what about a “universal” type holster that would allow multilple optics? i know it won’t be 100%, but surely there is a way to account for 80-90% of the most common optics?

Is that the 6354DO that gearscout wrote about in October of 2011, or have they updated it?

It’s the same as the 6354DO and it works with almost all of the MRDSs currently available except for the Aimpoint Micro T-1. It also completely covers the optics hood, sides, and the front of the lense.
