iPad Users, You Are Welcome

Over the past year I have had many requests to disable the TFB Mobile theme for iPads. I struggled to find the subtle bug that was causing it to be displayed without an iPad to debug it. I was given an iPad two weeks ago and was finally able to find and fix the bug.

All other non-iPad tablet users, a solution for you all is in the works, although I don’t have an ETA.

fwiw, your blog has always rendered well in the browsers for iPad that aren’t mobile safari; I use Mercury Web Browser and it displays as the full web.

I’d be happy if you dropped mobile for iPhone too. Nothing more useless than “mobile” websites.

I like the mobile iPhone app well enough. An option to turn it off would be okay.

Meh, the text is fine, and the links work well enough, but the pictures are almost always cropped poorly for iPhone. You have to open that photo as a link (doesn’t always work) and its just not saving anyone anything over the full version.

Mobile website may have been an acceptable idea back when phones were 640 pixels max and used a stylus. Just pointless now, IMO.

I can’t agree with you more about the pictures. I hate when they won’t open: I’ve even downloaded some and then looked at them that way. It wasn’t until I did that I understood what the big deal was with the zombie gun grip.

I just realized I’d gotten used to not being able to see pictures on the iPhone – sortof the opposite of taking it for granted. I’d really like to see the right half of every picture ever posted without a click through.

  • Forgive me for saying so, but your title just strikes me the wrong way.

Mobile themes are stupid. I have only ever run across one maybe two websites that were still fully useable in “mobile” format.

I didn’t pay 500$ for a phone so that i could use dumbed down websites designed for 20$ Nokia’s.
