Putin to develop tasers?

The sensationalist UK tabloid The Daily Mail, says Putin has authorized research into “zombie guns”

Mind-bending ‘psychotronic’ guns that can effectively turn people into zombies have been given the go-ahead by Russian president Vladimir Putin.

The futuristic weapons – which will attack the central nervous system of their victims – are being developed by the country’s scientists.

I interpret this as they are developing tasers. Yawn. Russians have been experimenting with tasers for a long time.

A multi shot TASER with cased ammunition? I think I just peed a little. Where do I sign?

  • vtb

I think they just speak about launching new TV-channels.

  • “Mind-bending ‘psychotronic’ guns that can effectively turn people into zombies”

Dude, that is the plot from the 1981 movie “Looker”

“discovers the Light Ocular-Oriented Kinetic Emotive Responses (L.O.O.K.E.R.) gun, a light pulse device that gives the illusion of invisibility by instantly mesmerizing its victims into losing all sense of time.”

This idea reminds me of the Mesmetron from the Fallout Games.

Same stungun? Seems like a neat design.

Whenever I read or hear something about yawn, I have yawn myself.

  • Wets

Call me when they make one that transports the target to another dimension when you shoot them.

Ill test it on my boss.

  • The Russians will have them firing electrodes from drum magazines!

  • Putin is obviously just trying to get on the zombie bandwagon.

  • Doesitmatter?

This is ‘boulevard’ reading at its best, obviously. Putin this, putin that….I think the man has more serious wories, not to bother with some stunguns.

But, I’d think that guns of future may and should look something like this. Why to kill someone, if you can turn him for hour or two into “zombie”. After battle is over, he may even become your friend.

I know guys from one Moscow company – LLC Electroshok Technologies.
Not revolutionary but great step forward. Of course design is bad, and website is sucks, but FUNCTION.

  • Deacon

Info about this was released 1 April… come on.

    • MrSatyre

BBC reports the timing of the announcement was mere coincidence. April 1st is, for many countries, just another day in the year.

      • JonMac

BBC reports that, does it? Where?

        This rings massive BS bells. Even if true, the US has been working on microwave type weapons for ages, and there was a news report on that very subject recently;

And again, even if true, neither this tech nor tasers are capable of ‘zombifying’ people.

  • Brian P.

Either they’re tasers, or they’re really trying to turn people into zombies. 😛

  • Pepper

Hey, I’m pretty sure this was modified from a real story about tasers into what we have now for april fools.

  • Zermoid

“I interpret this as they are developing tasers.”

Well it makes sense, isn’t electricity also a fairly new concept over there as well?

  • Oh, Vladimir, you little scamp.
