Amazing Gun Powder Art

A NY-based Chinese-national artist recently created an impressive daylight pyrotechnic display using 8,000 anti-missile countermeasure shells. Photos of the display can be seen at the DailyMail.

    Cai Guo Qiang is a moderately famous modern artist. He tends to specialize in one-off “in the moment” display pieces, usually with explosives and fireworks, such as this, which is likely why he’s not as famous as he should be, as you have to really witness the event in order to fully appreciate it. However, he has museum work that’s pretty unusual: a lot of tigers and wolves either caught mid-stride by arrows or a group of them in running in series.

    That’s pretty nifty! I wonder if you could dot-matrix print skywriting with that, rather than just abstract shapes.

    or would you need smart projectiles?
