The USMC SOCOM units is the only one who uses M-16A4s the rest of the military Spec Ops use M-4A1s. I think this might be for USMC SOCOM units.

You actually got it backwards. USMC SOCOM tends to use M4A1s more often, I’ve worked with them, and their situations tend not to call for a longer barrel. The M16A4 is the standard rifle issued to Marines, and is issued to some soldiers too.

MARSOC doesn’t use M16A4′s. They use M4A1′s. Besides, if you read the post, you would see that the contract for the M16A4 (M27IAR, M249, MK48) is still pending. So a suppressor hasn’t even been awarded for those weapon systems.

I worked closely with this project at Crane, and I was very happy with the performance of the AAC suppressor. The MK13 needed a suppressor solution bad! The AAC suppressor gives the MK13 a proprietary muzzle brake and a great suppressor option. The AAC suppressor awarded in this contract truly is a high quality can, and I’m glad to see SOCOM getting what they need!
