This is by far the worst AR-15 kaboom I have ever seen on the internet. The operator somehow mistakingly mixed pistol powder and rifle powder in a few of the cartridges he loaded. The result was catastrophic failure. Just about all the parts were destroyed. Photos from ARFCOM ...
Apparently the gold-like coating on the bolt and carrier is from the vaporized brass cartridge. Can any engineers or chemists confirm this?
The shooter was ok, other than getting whacked in the face with the charging handle and having small pieces of the carbon fiber freefloating tube embedded in his forearm.

It looks homemade to me.

The three-barreled Toz TP-82 was carried into space by Soviet and Russian cosmonauts until 2006 when the ammunition expired and it was replaced with a regular semi-automatic pistol. The top two barrels chambered 12.5x70mm (about 40 gauge) shotshells and the lower barrel chambered 5.45x39mm. A canvas covered machete was designed to be used as the stock.

At the end of the month ol' Steve is going on a much needed vacation for a week. I would really like it if readers and fellow bloggers could help me out and contribute guest posts for The Firearm Blog to keep it running during the break.
I last opened up the blog for guest posts back in 2009 and, judging by the feedback I got, the guest authors found it a very rewarding experience. Continue Reading »

Our 50,000th comment was posted by DAK on the Mossberg Tactical .22 blog post.
I bought the Mossberg Tactical .22 last week end. took it out to the range with my 19 year old son and fired 300 rounds. Had a few jams but straight out of the box but seemed to get better with more rounds. Need to clean out the grease & gunk & I'm sure it will get better. As you know it's not always easy to spend two full days with a 19 year old son or the other way around!! But we are both looking forward to more time together on the range. I am sure I have created a monster that will cost me an upgrade to .223, but thats the cost of bonding. Recommend for father son, father daughter, mother son, mother daughter--Heck quality time is quality time..enjoy & have fun..
I have just sent DAK a $100 voucher for GunsForSale.com that he can spend on ammunition or put it towards a firearm purchase.

Kahr Arms, the award-winning manufacturer of compact pistols based in Worcester, Mass, is currently engaged in a patent infringement lawsuit against Diamondback Firearms, LLC, the maker of compact .380 ACP and 9mm pistols based in Cocoa, Florida.
Seven U.S. patents cover Kahr’s unique locking, firing and extraction systems. The system provides a “safe cam action” and unbelievably smooth double action only trigger stroke, fast to fire in critical defensive situations.
