New Pakistan G3S rifle

Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF) had a new compact variant of the G3 called the G3S.

I have not seen the specifications for this weapon. From what I can see, it features a redesigned fore-end, picatinny mounted under-barrel grenade launcher and a very short barrel.

POF produces G3 and other H&K weapons under license.

Caracal CSR Sniper Rifle

The UAE's only gun manufacturer, Caracal International, have developed their first rifle. The Caracal Sniper Rifle (CSR) is a bolt action chambered in either .308 Win. or .300 Win. Mag.

The magazine holds 10 rounds. It features a fully adjustable stock, quad picatinny rails and what looks to be an AR-15 compatible pistol grip (I may be wrong about the grip).

CSR Basic model has a 23.6" (600mm) barrel, while the CSR Compact model has a 20" (510mm ) barrel.

Calling a 20 inches "Compact" is a bit of a stretch in my opinion. That aside, this looks like a solid first rifle for Caracal. I look forward to their future semi-automatics.

New Beretta Mx4 Storm Submachine Gun

The Beretta Mx4 Storm is a new submachine gun version of the Beretta Cx4 Storm semi-automatic carbine. The Mx4 has been designed for the Indian Ministry of Home Affairs who should be receiving their first shipment in the next 12 months.

The gun is chambered in 9x19mm NATO. It features a 12" barrel and has a total length of 25". It weights 6.28 lbs (including magazine). I am guessing that the magazine pictured is Beretta's 30 round magazine. I could be wrong, but it looks to me like the barrel is threaded for a suppressor and a thread protector has been screwed on.

If I owned a Beretta Cx4, the first thing I would want to do it chop the barrel down to 12" (I currently own a 12"-barreled carbine and love it).

Pistol-Caliber Carbines

Richard Mann at Shooting Illustrated has evaluated a few different pistol cartridge chambered carbines and compared then with the M4-style carbines in 5.56mm and pistols chambered in the same rounds.

Bushmaster Carbon-15 carbine

Richard says ...

With the versatility of an M4-style carbine in 5.56 NATO a given, it still may not be as cool as some pistol-caliber carbines. For fighting bad guys at rock-throwing ranges, it may be no better. A gun’s cool factor will not save your life, but nevertheless, a cool, pistol-caliber carbine loaded with the right ammo should work just fine. They are indeed more accurate and easier to shoot than any handgun.

Building a “battlefield pickup”

I have no racial prejudices against guns. I don't care if they are pink, black, white, yellow or purple. I am prejudiced against rust and it cuts deep to see a gun owner intentionally rust up his rifle1 !

tailo at AR-15 wanted a "battlefield pickup" look so he used bleach to rust it up.

  1. Specifically the red oxide of iron, I know that blue is technically rust icon wink Building a battlefield pickup photo
