Sub-Machine Gun Book

Max Popenker & Antony G Williams, both readers of the blog who help me out frequently with research, have co-authored another book together entitled "Sub-Machine Gun". It should be out this summer.

They have also co-authored Machine Gun, Modern Combat Pistols and Assault Rifle.

Congrats Max and Tony.

It’s scheduled for publication in July.

It will be available via amazon or any decent bookshop, or can be ordered from the publishers, The Crowood Press: see http://www.crowoodpress.co.uk/details.asp?isbn=9781847970305&t=Machine-Gun—The-Development-of-the-Machine-Gun-from-the-Nineteenth-Century-to-the-Present-Day

    Thank you Steve.

The book will be to the same format as our Assault Rifle and Machine Gun books, with chapters covering the general history, gun design issues, ammo design and the cartridges used, followed by a country-by-country description of all service weapons plus the more interesting experimentals.

Modern Combat Pistols is a bit different; that’s a solo effort by Max, I just edited it for English publication.

This book is pretty much excactly what I wanted for my summer (non-fiction) reading. I’ve enjoyed all of Mr. William’s writing so far, so I’ll certainly be ordering this as well.

Another book to get. It looks to be as good as their other books.

I see Tony a couple of times a year at European Cartridge Research Association meetings. A really nice and knowledgeable person. I have all his books and will buy this one on SMG’s as soon as it is published.

I tend to dislike firearms books because they’re usually out of date by the time they make it to bookshelves (most reference materials are like this, in my experience-it’s better for the Internet as it allows after the fact editing, as opposed to putting out a “2nd edition” twenty or thirty years later :p), but for an almost-extinct weapon like the submachine gun that sees new developments very irregularly, I think it’d probably do nicely.
