Vltor AR-15 Lower Receivers

Having made many other components for the AR-15 in recent years, including the MUR upper receiver, VIS polylithic upper receiver/handguard, CASV handguard, and Modstock/EMod/IMod stocks, Vltor has finally moved on to lower receivers.

Not content to make standard lowers, Vltor has given the VR a very large magazine release button. The lower will be available for $379.95 with everything needed to complete the lower (lower parts kit, buffer, spring, and tube) minus a stock body. They are shipping in mid-March but are available for pre-order now.

Vltor will also be selling factory SBRs. Naturally, they’re heavily laden with Vltor kit.

I have to say… not knocking it at all as i love it, but I don’t see how the KAC is Fully Ambi, you cannot lock the bolt to the rear from the right side of the weapon, just release it… as for the price it seems to be decent, maybe a tad Hi… but then again Most MSRP’s are a lot higher than the actual street price.
hopefully they will offer a stripped lower with the necessary parts for the over-sized mag release for a decent price….say….$120 or lower range?
i’d be all over that like a hobo on a ham sandwich!
$380?
i have a VLTOR MUR upper and love it!
does it do anything different than a BCM upper? no, it only looks better.
as for the VLTOR lower at $380…
Spike’s lower $90
Stag lpk $60
spring $8
buffer $12
tube $20
——————
total $190
just saying……..
I think $380 is a pretty good deal for a good quality complete lower, minus stock. I will have to take look at one of these when they come out.
Checked these out at Shot, they are mostly parts left over from Spirit Gun Company. Nothing real fancy, the finish was perfect, Kincel says he did the jumbo mag button to make these a little different. By the time you add an Emod and you are over 500 bucks for a lower, not sure they are that different.
380 for stripped lower, lpk, and receiver extension + spring and buffer? so it isn’t a complete lower then. Ok then it is classified as a premium product?
Maybe street prices will be a tad lower.
$380? That price it should be billet and like a POF lower with the trigger guard milled in.
$380 will buy a C3 def. or Black Rain billet lower with all the Magpul fixins installed
No ambi controls? Btw, I can’t help but wonder why among all the high-end AR manufacturers, only KAC manages to crank out fully ambi lowers as standard…
Looks exactly like the receiver they were selling last year as Spirit Gun
Nothing groundbreaking here. The oversized magazine release does nothing to excite — I don’t see how an oversized magazine release makes this lower very special. The industry is moving in the direction of ambi-controls… so this design already seems behind the times.
Why wouldn’t they incorporate an ambi-bolt release? or an ambi-mag release (at least, I can’t see one in the photo). Those would be more important points of distinction.
Oh, and the upper in the second photo would benefit from a LaRue mount for the Aimpoint sight. Others might (on a good day) equal — but they will never surpass LaRue’s design.
That big mag release button is slick.
Nooky – thanks – I resized the image.
$380? What makes this worth almost 4 times as much as a Stag?
Delivering on promises: Bren Ten and the Volks Suppressor need some substantial manufacturing. AR components are relatively easy in comparison. Still that “I will believe it when I see it.” public perception exists for Vltor to overcome.
SBRs – more details to come I am sure but when any full firearm comes into discussion, what’s the original of parts, including:
- barrel
- LPK
- BCG
Lower receiver – I like the very large magazine release.
That handguard looks so badass.
Given their (non) performance on the Bren Ten, I would not pre-order anything at all from Vltor.
Um, hell yes!
The middle image is quite large, it’s slowing down the whole homepage.
